I was in my guidance counselor's office currently trying to change my classes. "Okay, why are you here Reagan?" Ms. G asked me. "I want to change my biology class. I don't want to be in that class anymore." I got it all out. Ms. G side eyed me a little, "Um, you can't change your class because you don't want to be in there anymore." She explained. "I know."

"What's the reason?" Ms. G asked me. I sighed and told her as professionally as I could, "Professor Gil and I don't click. Her attitude and forwardness is too much for me. I feel containing my attitude and personal feelings toward her are getting harder and harder every day. She's not testing my knowledge; she's testing my patience."

Ms. G looked understanding, "You're not the first person to come to me with these claims. But what am I supposed to do? Transfer all the students who don't like her methods?" She asked me, eyebrow raised and I nodded "Yes, in fact I do. I came to this school for the benefit of learning at a higher level. I didn't come to be chastised and I'm sure no one else did either. If I want to be chastised, I'll call my own mother and talk to her for five minutes." I told Ms. G and she laughed at my example.

"Reagan, you're an extremely gifted student. You have an IQ of over 200 and your work ethic is superb. You take excels classes and IB classes. However, I've heard about your in-class behavior. You sleep and look out windows for the most part. You can't do that in real world situations? Your career is health studies; I'm assuming you want to be a doctor?" She asked and I nodded.

"You can't look out the window and sleep in your office. You must be attentive. I think Professor Gil wants you to realize that. I know it might seem like she's pushy but she's doing it for your own benefit, trust me." Ms. G finished and I breathed out loud, "I'm not a trouble maker and I mind my own business. I want to be treated with respect not a child. I don't miss out on any projects or homework, because I read it, I already know the material. I don't want to be bothered." I admitted and Ms. G shook her head.

"Fine, I will transfer you to Dr. Roberts biology class in the morning." I got her to agree. I sighed in relief and I smiled.

"However, you need Professor Gil and Dr. Roberts to sign off on the transfer." Ms. G passed me a transfer paper and I nodded and stuck the paper in my binder and put that in my backpack. "Okay, thank you." I said to her, she smiled and nodded.

During lunch, Drew and I were on a mission. He had to get his transfer papers signed too so that he could take PE right before his last period sports class which is football of course. We handled his situation though, it was simple. I had to do mine now.

"I think she's going to eat your head. A girl I used to mess with said she tried to transfer out her class and she upright refused to do it." I looked at him weird, "Yeah, right." He shrugged, "Alright. You're going to see." I laughed, "Drew, you probably don't even remember the girls name." His mouth opened in shock, "Who is this really about? Me or you?" I laughed because I knew I was right.

I knocked on her office door and I heard Professor Gil say, "Come in." Drew opened the door for me and I walked in. She looked at me and she smiled. Drew walked in after me and closed the door.

She got to the point asking, "How can I help you Ms. Smith?" I pulled out the transfer papers. "I need you to sign these." I passed her the papers, she took the paper and looked over them. She snorted in amusement "Transfer papers?" She peaked up to look at me over the top of the paper.

"Yes, ma'am." She placed the papers down. "Sit down Reagan, and her friend?" She instructed and asked who Drew was. "Andrew Montgomery ma'am." He answered. She smiled and looked at me "Your boyfriend?" She asked me and I smirked, "More like my bodyguard." I joked and Drew smiled in amusement.

"Reagan, why do you want to transfer out of my class?" She asked me quizzically.

"It's not the learning environment I'm comfortable in." I bluntly said.

"Well, I think you need to open your mind more." Her voice just as blunt as mine, but my face stayed the same.

"I've spoken to your previous and current teachers and professors. They told me you do the same thing in all their classes. I'm not the type of teacher to allow a student to nap in class, I don't care if you know the material or not. I want you to challenge yourself more." She

I simply told her, "I don't want a challenge." She almost looked taken back, but recovered quickly.

"I don't believe that. I know that's not true. Do you really enjoy sleeping in class and staring out into open space?" She asked me. I looked at her like duh.

"Yeah, I really do." She shook her head at me. I saw in my peripheral Drew shaking his head as well.

"I refuse to believe you and I refuse to sign your paper." She outright said and my eyebrows furrowed by the answer I received.

"That's fine, I won't attend any more of your classes. I'll sit in the principal's office until second period." I got up, but I heard her laugh. "That will be a mistake Ms. Smith." Professor Gil said as I walked out.

I went to the office and I asked an audience to see the principal, she welcomed me in. "I need transfer papers signed, but Professor Gil refuses to sign them. I explained that I will not attending her class because of this, and I'm willing to accept the punishments for it." I outright told Principal Miles and she looked shocked.

"Wait, say that again." She asked.

"Professor Gil refuses to sign my transfer papers. I said that I won't attend another class until she does. I'm telling you because I know it's a cause of disciplinary action and I wanted to let you know now." I explained again.

"Reagan. One, you cannot not go to class dear. Also, why are you transferring classes?" Principal Miles asked me.

"I don't like Professor Gil's teaching methods. She's very passive aggressive and it irks me to no end. She's also very pushy and I don't want to disrupt class because she's pushed me too far." I admitted and Principal Miles finally taking in my words sighed, "Reagan, you're going to have to deal with people like that for the rest of our life. There's no way of getting around it. Do you think I like some of the people I work with here? No. But, I have to tolerate them for the betterment of the school."

My face didn't change because I wasn't fazed by her lecture.

"I'll sign the paper; my signature gives you an override. But I want you to understand that it's not going to be this easy all the time." Principal Miles said, I smiled and my shoulders slumped in relief. "Thank you." I said to her and she shook her head. "You were probably sleeping in class. That's why she bothered you." Principal Miles somewhat scolded me and I smiled innocently.
