Arriving at the hairdresser, we went inside and I checked us in at the counter.

"This is Candi," I told the girl. "She has an appointment."

The girl looked us up in the book and confirmed our appointment. She then asked Candice what she wanted done.

I quickly spoke up and answered before Candice could say anything, "She wants something done with her hair to make it more pretty. Something soft and feminine, highlights, waves . . . "

Candice looked at me with pleading eyes, and I just smiled back.

She sighed and then hesitantly replied, "Not this one, the one before it."

"Now keep in mind," Christine informed her, turning back a page. "It will be shorter than this, only covering about half your ear, due to your current length, but it will grow. You should have a length about the same as the girl in the picture by the end of summer. So this is the one you want?"
