Bucket List - #51 - I want to visit my Grandma's grave back in Paris

**If anything is in italics it is supposed to be emphasized or stressed. It may also mean that it is a flashback or memory from the past**

"Gate 109 closes in 5 minutes. 5 minutes. Thank you."

I sighed, getting up from my seat. Yes, I am at the airport. I am going to visit Alex's grandmother, Jane, at her grave today before I go back to school in a few days. My Mom said I can go as long as I promise to call her. Alex's parents wanted to go too, but they didn't get the tickets in time. They said they will be going in a few weeks if possible.

I walked with my carry-on luggage beside me. I gave my ticket to one of the ladies at the desk and walked into the gate. After I visit Alex's grandmother - whom I loved very much - I will be going back to school and studying to the best of my abilities. I will try to get my mind off of Alex, but I don't think that will by possible. She's on my mind 24/7. Heck, she's been on my mind 24/7 even before she passed on.

"Good morning, sir." The captain said, greeting me as I walked onto the plane. I gave a polite smile and walked onto the plane, looking for my seat. Luckily, when I booked my seat, I didn't see anyone sitting next to me. Hopefully that's the case. I don't like sitting next to other people.

"Finally, we're off that stupid plane." Alex said, waiting for our luggages. "It wasn't that bad of a flight." Ethan persisted but Alex shook her head. "Whatever. You practically slept through most of the ride."

"True." Ethan said, grabbing one of our luggages. They were in London to visit Alex's grandmother, Jane. It was her birthday tomorrow and they were spending the weekend. Alex's parents flew in before uthem so they're at the hotel right now. Well, except for Alex's faher who is picking up the duo at the airport.

"Dad texted me. He says to meet him outside."

"Okay." Ethan said, grabbing our final luggage and dragging them behind me to the entrance outside. "I'm so excited to finally see Grandma." Alex said, a smile on her face. Alex had a bond with her Grandma and she died about two years ago. Ethan did get to see her at Alex's birthday awhile back. She said she approves of him, which is a great honor.

"It's been awhile, huh?" Ethan asked Alex, but she just looked down. "Yeah. I miss her but she's in a better place. I still have dreams about her. They're good don't worry-"

"Oh, your Dad's here." Ethan said, walking next to her Dad's rental car, which is a Jeep. "Hey Alex, Ethan. Just put your luggages in the back."

"Okay." Alex said, hoisting up the small one into the trunk while Ethan hoisted the bigger one in the back. "OW! ETHAN- MY HAND."

"Oh, sorry." Ethan said, moving the luggage off of her hand. "Everything okay back there?" Her Dad called from the wheel, looking back. "Yeah, everything's fine." Alex said, shaking her hand. Ethan grabbed it and kissed it, smiling cheekily.

"You idiot." Alex said, hitting Ethan in the arm. She walked around the car and got into the backseat while Ethan got into the other side.

--

"Hi Grandma!" Alex said, walking towards her Grandmother's grave. They were at ChurchWood's cemetery right now where her Grandma was buried. "I miss you." She said, putting the flowers over her grave while Ethan put the other flowers in the hole next to the grave.

"This is my boyfriend, Ethan, do you remember him? He was at my birthday party and he accidentally spilled punch on my dress but don't worry- I got him back."

"Yeah, by 'accidentally' spilling cake on my favorite jeans." Ethan said, laughing. Alex just blushed, pouting. "He deserved it, Grandma. You had to leave early so you didn't see Ethan's accident. Oh, and guess what! Daddy got my a new car this year because my old one broke down on me."

Alex's Dad and Mom smiled, tears brimming her Mom's eyes. Alex acted as if her Grandma was sitting infront of her, talking with her. "It's a nice white and I take really good care of it. Plus, Ethan likes to drive it everywhere and sometimes he takes it for a nice car wash."

"She forces me to." Ethan said, putting his arm around Alex's waist. Alex smiled up at Ethan, resting her head on his shoulder. She tiptoed and kissed his cheek.

"He means a lot to me, Grandma." Alex whispered. Ethan smiled at her. "I'll leave you alone with Mom and Dad- I miss you! I'll visit you again, I promise."

And with that said Alex and Ethan walked away from the grave.

But Alex would never get the chance to visit her Grandma again.

--

"Hey, Grandma Jane." I said, setting the red and white roses down. "I don't know if you've heard but Alex died and hopefully she's with you right now, listening to me. Anyways, i'm sorry that I didn't visit Alex. I don't want to break down infront of her a-and mourn over her. As you've heard, i've already said my goodbyes, Alex." I took a breath and sat down on the grass. "I miss her and I miss you too, Grandma Jane. You both were like the same person. You both would put a smile on my face. I-I just miss both of you. I miss the feeling of being loved.

I haven't had the feeling of love in awhile and my heart is slowly breaking into two. I don't have anyone to mend it back into one whole heart b-because it's slowly breaking. It's breaking in half." I said, almost choking on my own words. I'm full on sobbing right now. It hurts. It hurts inside. It hurts to have the people around you just leave your life and be gone. You won't see them again until you eventually pass too.

"I like how i'm visiting you, Grandma Jane, and not Alex. You would probably be wacking me with a newspaper because i'm too selfish to go over there and see Alex. I will, I promise. She's apart of my life, dead or alive. Tell her that I love her. And tell her that I miss her. Everyone misses her. I'll be back. Soon." I said, getting up. I kissed my fingers and put it on Grandma Jane's grave.

I looked up at the sky, tears running down my cheek.

"Keep her safe, will ya?"
