Bucket List - #2 - I want to go have a romantic dinner by the beach
Ethan watched as Alex sighed, looking out her window. Ethan was surprising her with a romantic dinner at the beach, but he missed his turn and now he's lost.
"Ethan, are you sure you know where we're going?" Alex said, looking at him. She looked more tired than awake. "Yeah, soon. Just a few more minutes."
"You've been saying that for the past hour! Ethan, please, are we going the right way or not! It looks like we're in farmville! Ethan, if we're not going the right way I can just use my GPS sytem-"
"There's no connection." Ethan sighed, turning around yet again.
"Ugh, whatever. Ethan if we get lost, starve, and possibly die I will eat you first!" Alex shouted, sighing. She laid down on her seat and closed her eyes, hoping that she can sleep through all of this. Well, it didn't work out.
The car was going over bumps, rocks, and it just got to the point where the car gave up and decided to give itself a flat tire for no apparent reason.
"Ugh." Ethan said, pulling over and stopping the car next to some farm. The sun was setting and Alex was beyond pissed.
"Ethan! Hurry up before some guy with a machete comes and kills us! Well, actually, before he kills me! You'll be gone by the time he comes around if you don't get this car to work!" Alex said, screaming. Ethan sighed, thinking that her hormonal balance was just really unsteady at this point.
He can't blame her, though. He would be pissed if he were in her shoes. Ethan just wanted to do something good for his girlfriend and this is what happens- karma strikes back.
"AH! SPIDER!" Ethan said, jumping up. He ran around, trying to swat the bug off from his shoulder. Alex rolled her eyes, looking bored. Although, she was laughing on the inside. She was laughing at her sissy boyfriend trying to swat a small spider off his shoulder.
"IT'S MOVING! iT'S MOVING!" Ethan said, still running around. This continued for 5 minutes.
Alex got out, stopped Ethan, and flicked the spider off his shoulder. Ethan sighed and wiped his forehead. "Sorry babe." Ethan said, giving Alex a smile. She rolled her eyes (yet again) and stormed back into the car, slamming his car door.
Ethan finally changed the tire and got back into the car, trying to look at the GPS. They arrived at the beach 3 hours later. Ethan finally realized that they were not even remotely close to the beach.
"I-I'm sorry." Ethan said as they finally got ready to get out of the car. "I-I should've listened to you.. about the GPS. I'm sorry for wasting your time." Ethan said, sighing. A tear escaped his eyes and Alex just couldn't stay mad at him.
"Look, i'm sorry too okay? I didn't mean to burst out at you like that." Ethan smiled, kissing her cheek. They both got out and walked down to the beach, picnic baskets in hand.
"It's more romantic at night." Alex said, winking at Ethan. Ethan laughed and laid the picnic blanket out and Alex sat on it, kicking off her sandals.
They opened the basket and there it revealed all sorts of food. Fruits, veggies, some pasta, and what looks like chocolate covered strawberries. Oh, and a cupcake.
"All of this?" Alex said, laughing. "Yeah. It might be a bit cold." Ethan replied, taking a container of pasta out. He spooned it on his fork, shoving it in his mouth. A bit of the sauce hit his shirt and he sighed. Alex giggled, taking a napkin and dabbing her shirt.
"Thanks.. for everything." Alex said, cleaning up Ethan's shirt.
"Everything?"
"F-For being there for me. I couldn't have still lived on without you being here."
"Hey, don't say that." Ethan said and he pulled Alex to his chest. "You're strong, okay? Don't ever forget that there's always someone out there for you. And that person happens to be me."
"I love you." Alex said, looking up into his eyes. Ethan looked shock. Alex had never said 'I love you' at all. Or, at least, that many times. Ethan was always the one saying 'I love you.' Not Alex.
"I love you to Alexis." He said, sticking out his tongue.
"Oh shut it Ethan. You just spoiled the moment." Alex said, flicking a piece of pasta at his face. They both laughed and ate together in silence.
All they needed was each other to get through the rough days and the hard times.
But one of them didn't realize that. That person didn't realize that the other would always be there to protect, love, and nurture.
But the world is one ball of stupidity.

The ocean. It was so blue.
The waves crashed upon the shores like a war.
There was no sign of life at the beach.
I sat there, alone, in pure silence. I thought about life, the future, and especially her. Alex. My sweet, sweet Alex.
Do you know that quote where it says, 'Everything happens for a reason?"
Why did Alex have to die?
Why did Alex have to leave me?
Did she stop loving me?
Was I not enough for her? These questions stormed my head.
Of course she loved me, right?
Hah, loved. As in the past tense.
Meaning that she no longer loves me and she has probably moved on. Wherever she may be.
I wish there was a sign. A sign that our love was true. It was meant to be.
But as I looked onto the bright, blue ocean I saw nothing.
Nothing but the sand and the waves.
Nothing.
And that's what it will be forever.
Nothing.
