Britney still stares daggers at me. I don’t feel threatened by it anymore because I know I can protect myself and I know Zayn can protect me. He knew I wasn’t wrong about us being a team. We do work better as a team then enemies. Liam has publicly announced that him and Britney are a thing. Zayn couldn’t be more hysterical. He literally couldn’t stop laughing. I was half worried for the guy. Today I am on my own. Today is my Christmas shopping day. Mom and Kaitlyn gave me a hundred bucks each.

I’ve never had to get a job but I’ve never had things handed to me on a silver platter either. My biological mom and dad was never wealthy and neither was my foster mom. Now Kaitlyn is wealthy. It’s a huge change for me. I still count money or estimate how much groceries are. I am quite grateful that both Kaitlyn and Mom gave me money for Christmas gifts.

I walk through the mall. I bought Aaron a drone. I bought Aurora a twenty-four karat gold necklace that says, ‘Best Friends’, I bought Kaitlyn a blanket made from real wolf fur, and I bought Bianca a Disney princess tent. I walk into Spencers. “Hi, welcome to Spencers. Can I help you with anything?” A guy with tattoos and piercings asks. I smile. “Yes, I want to get my friend a gag gift. I want something he’ll never see coming.” I reply.

He smiles widely. “Let’s see what we’ve got.” He says. He walks down to the back of the store and I follow. I know that the back of the store is where all the bad things are. He stops at the woman’s breast balloons. I begin laughing.

Balloons are perfect for this. “They’re regular balloons.” He says. I nod. “These are perfect. My friend and I release balloons into the sky a lot so this is perfect.” I laugh. The guy laughs. I grab sixty packets each filled with balloons. That’s hundred-eighty balloons. This is priceless. I pay for the balloons. I head back to my car.

My phone begins to ring. I glance at the contact. ZAYN PILLOWTALK pops up. I laugh at how stupid it is. “Hello?” I ask picking up the phone. “Violet! Come to Matt’s house, hurry.” Zayn says panicked and hangs up. My body jumps nervously. I force my car into drive. Mom let me use the car only for Christmas shopping. I haven’t even gotten Zayn’s actual gift. I drive to Matt’s house quickly. I open the door quickly.

My body is jump with every fearful emotion ever. “Zayn?” I ask panicked. “Up here!” He screams. I run as fast as my gray boot will let me. I bust through Zayn’s door. No one is in the room. I walk in. “Zayn?” I ask out of breath from so much panic. Adrenaline is pulsing through every vein in my body. The door quickly closes behind me. I jump shrieking. I see Zayn standing behind the door. My eyes widen. “What’s wrong?” I ask.

He smiles in his ridiculous goofy way that makes him ten times attractive. I groan rolling my eyes. My foot throbs. All this pain for nothing. “You freaked me out for nothing? My ankle now hurts for nothing.” I demand. He still smiles. Zayn points behind me. I turn around and Max is sitting on his bed with a red ribbon around his neck. Max jumps off his bed and runs to me. He hands me a single white rose.

A bright smile spreads across my lips. I turn back around to Zayn. “He’s yours. I’ve already talked to Kaitlyn and Diana.” He says with a wink. “Merry early Christmas. He’s your gag gift by the way. You have to wait for your actual gift on Christmas Eve.” He adds. I bend down picking up Max and the rose. “Zayn, I don’t know what to say.” I reply speechless.

Zayn kisses my forehead. Fire boils throughout my body. “Don’t say anything just keep him.” He says. It suddenly dawns on me. “Wait, why are you giving my gag gift now and my real gift on Christmas Eve?” I ask petting Max. He smiles sadly. “I’m going to Maryland to visit my older sister for Christmas.” Zayn says. My eyes widen. I force my eyes down. I’m a big girl I can survive on my own.
