Tommy should have seen it coming.

The loud heartbeat ringing in his ears as he ran through his head, trying to figure out how to fix a generator. Too distracted to notice the killer staring at him from behind.

Too distracted to Notice the tune.

Too distracted to notice the knife flying towards him.

Too distracted to notice Cory push him out of the way.

Tommy pushed himself up from the position he had been laying in. Looking over towards the generator his blood ran cold.

The killer no longer in sight, Tommy scrambled over to the sleeping body next to him.

Blood seeped out of corys open mouth as he stared up at the sky.

Tommy had to hold a hand over his mouth to prevent the bile that began to rise in his throat from coming out. Tears welled in his eyes at the sight of the strong male.

The strong male that had fallen.

"C-cor-" tommy sobbed.

This wasn't supposed to happen. Cory was supposed to make it, he was one of the strongest people tommy knew.

He had to make it.

Except when Cory gave tommy that smile.

That smile that showed all his emotion in one single gesture. That smile that told tommy he didn't want to die, But he would accept it.

Tommy couldn't help but sob even more. How was he going to tell the others that he had managed to kill two wonderful people.

Tommy couldn't think straight anymore.

_______

Uni must have looked ages for the particular blonde. He knew Cory could take care of himself but he had always been attached to him since this whole thing began.

He wasn't afraid to admit he loves the blonde, in a platonic sort of way of course. They had been best friends through out it all and he wouldn't give that up for the world- or the world after.

He felt a sort of fondness that you only have for someone as close as family. And being as close to Cory as Uni was, the two were practically inseparable.

Even as his eyes laid on the fallen, even as his heart cracked into two. He never forgot to hold onto that fondness.
the tears that streamed down his face silently, burned him. He stalked towards the two blondes, he couldn't help but stare at the amount of blood that stained the green grass.

But the love was still there.

And that was what had killed uni in the end.

Not the killer shoving his knife through his back, or his head hitting the floor as he was dragged off towards the familiar looked rusted hook.

Not the creature in the sky that reached down to take him to hell.

No,

It was never any of that.

What had killed him that night was the look on corys face.

What had killed him was the death of his friend.

Who knew a simple smile could hurt so much.

Fate sure had a fucked up sense of humor.

____

Cory didn't know what he was doing, nor did he care at the moment.

His mind raced with thoughts. All surrounding a singular person and that particular killer in eye sight.

He didn't regret it though, he wasn't sure he would accept it but he would never regret pushing his friend out of the way.

The pain was unbearable, but when he looked at tommys face, all he felt was numb.

Cory had people he could count on. People who would live on even after his passing and for that, he was entirely greatful. They might of had some ruff patches and they weren't doing so hot on the self-esteem portion. But they had made it so far.

Sure the shattered glass in everyone's hearts would remain with them, but it was still a bittersweet sort of pain.

Cory wondered what would of happened if he came into this not ever knowing the others. Having to navigate the world alone. Although that would be an entirely different scenario, he would rather die for the team then die with nobody but the voices in his head. The others were his ground, they were what kept him going. He knew he would always have them, and they would always have him. Even if he was no longer around to save them from themselves, he knew they were smart people. They would make it.

And as he faced hell.

He smiled.
