To say Ashlie missed dawn was a bit of an understatement. She couldn't focus without him. It was like dawn was her anchor, and without that anchor she was slowly going off into sea. Getting lost in the waves.Surely Ashlie was letting everyone down, by giving up. Could dawn really be disappointed in her? Not that it mattered, he was dead and nothing could change that. Ashlie had failed at protecting him, just as he failed at protecting himself; She didn't blame him though.
Ashlie knew she lost hope from the beginning, yet she hid that fact, not wanting to believe it's true.
It's like telling your child they were really adopted, when all their life they believed that they were truly related to the ones they called parents.
The truth was horrid, that's what Ashlie believed.
And now that she realized such a truth was real, she lost all hope in the world.
She lost all hope in herself.
Nick had promised that'd make it and Ashlie thought he was right, but then when dawn died she also died with him, maybe not physically; But mentally.
It broke her down inside-out more than the normal person could understand. She just wanted to die and be with him, but would he want that? Would Dawn want her to go to him. Deep down Ashlie knew that Apart of her didn't want this, that she wanted to continue living for nicks sake, for the groups sake. The rest wanted nothing more than to end the suffering she had endured.
Though, not only did she feel like she was failing dawn, the group and nick.
She felt she was failing herself the most, from beginning to end Ashlie always tried to look on the brighter side of things, even though there was no brighter side to this desolate killing ground.
She felt like a lost cause.
And that's probably the main reason she wanted to end it.
All she'd have to do is find the killer, get taken to the hooks or possibly bleed out.
Anything was better than living out the rest of your hopeless life in fear of the unknown.
Anything was better than this place.
And so when Ashlie's vision settled she went out, to find who would end her forlorn existence.
_______
When nick came to he was face to face with a generator.
'Sweet' he thought, how lucky had he been to have found a generator right away.
Albeit he knew the luck wouldn't last long, for he would soon face the new killer, but he could enjoy the little time of peace as of this moment.
As he worked on the generator he couldn't help but worry about his dear sister, was she ok? He thought. He knew she was old enough to take care of herself but it didn't seem like anyone could take care of them selves in this incubus.
"Hey nick!" Nick turned to see Cory standing behind him, going to the other side of the generator to work on it.
"Hey Cor, where's Uni?" Cory scuffed.
"Ditched me awhile ago, why do you ask?" Cory raised an eyebrow at nick, placing two wires together to get a spark.
"You two seem irrespirable, so I thought you'd be with him." Cory smiles a little.
"We are best friends, so I'd make sense why you'd think that." Nick nods, going back to working on the generator.
Once it was finished both men walk off to find a knew one, hearing distant shrieks.
"What is that? If those are bird I swear." Cory just chuckles, shacking his head. "Nah, that's probably the nurse." Nick raises an eyebrow at Cory, a confused smile plastered on his face.
"What?"
"Yea, the nurse is another killer, we don't see her too often. She has the power of teleportation so I'd watch out." Nick became frightened all of a sudden.
Teleportation?
With that power she's basically unstoppable. How in the world had these guys ever escaped her.
"We lost a few group members because of her." Nick face was full of terror as Cory said those words.
They wouldn't make it out, someone would die!
Cory realized his mistake and quickly tried to retract it. "Shit! I shouldn't of said that. God damn it Cory, you are such an idiot." Cory placed the palm of his hand on his forehead, but nothing Cory said could fix the trepidation nick felt on this inside, nothing could ease his apprehension.
Nick had a feeling that there'd have to be a immolate. If what Cory was saying was true, someone would have to perish in order for the group to go free.
But nick didn't want anyone to die.
Though I'm abashed to say that in this world you can't escape the inevitable, they would all cease one day, whether it be by a killer, disease, old age. Maybe the theory of the moon slowly rotating wasn't true, and they all would be cemented here. In this eternal world.
Another thing that alarms nick.
_______
The loud shriek of the woman made Ashlie almost smile, she had finally found her ticket out. Her mind screamed yes while her body screamed no, she was Eager. She would finally see her beloved again. Did she feel remorse for wanting to die? She knew she was leaving the group, and it would probably be more damaging to them than her, but did she really a care?
The answer was no. She didn't care, you have to understand that she wanted this after all. She wanted the bittersweet release of death more than anything.
And once she felt the cool metal of the nurses amputator she closed her eyes deliberately.
The pain made her numb, and it felt welcoming.
No one would help her, she didn't care. Her selfish desires to be sane again we're only but a distant dream now, as she was far too gone: insane.
She felt relief as she fell to the ground with a loud thud.
I'm coming Dawn.
