Chapter 12

Duiguid saw Ko's face and could hardly believe his own eyes. "Could it really be?..."

Duiguid and Ko crouched beneath the bushes as someone came running in their direction. It was night and though they both wished to get some sleep, the Bounty Hunters from the North-East were still to close behind to rest easy. The footsteps grew closer and Duiguid smiled. "Relax Ko, she won't do us anything."

"You mean?..."

"Yup."

And before either could react to what they had found out, there stood before them a woman plated in the most beautiful armor. The armor was one of the few things that fascinated Duiguid. It was engraved with the writings and enchantments from the Avian Clan. These symbols were then enhanced with Beta-Technology to further improve its already incredible feat. The armor was known as "Hikarinohayasa", and as the name suggest, when fully under control, one could move at the speed of light.

"Hiya boys." the woman said. The armor transpired and she now wore a very exuberant sky blue lingere piece with incredibly long stockings and heels. "Alexis!" they said in unison. It was now nearing midnight and all were seated around a campfire. "So what did you find out?" Ko asked Alexis. "Not much, but I think they're planning some sort of spirit trap to capture you both. I'm not sure, but I think that they may target you with the strongest of those traps Duiguid. They do seemed more interested in you than they are of of Ko. No offense." Ko laughed. "None taken. we should get some rest though, huh? Especially you "Xi-Xi"(Ko's personal nickname for Alexis), you've been running for the whole day. Alexis didn't want to admit it, but Ko was right. Although she had learnt to control the basics of the armor, she still wasn't able to learn it's exact secret. Because of that, using the armor resulted in a high matabolism and extreme fatigue. She knew all to well the penalty should she overexert herself. She sighed. "I don't feel tired, but if you insist, I'll rest. Wouldn't want you to look bad now, would I?" 

"You're a woman. You get tired faster."

"And what's that supposed to mean?"

"You mean you have all that speed and can't think fast? Shame"

"Are you calling me stupid?!"

"Hey, you said it. Not me."

"Well at least I can get a date you..you walking horsebrush!"

"That's a lot coming from a bitch wrapped in foil!"

As the argument conspired,Duiguid grinned to himself. "Jeez these two are always at it." He laid himself near the campfire and fell slowly asleep, the sounds of the argument fading. A sudden noise. Duiguid awoke, as did Ko. The noise was faint, yet the movements said they were those of hunters. Stealth Hunters, from the sound of it. Gladly, they weren't professional. Had they been, it would've been too late to escape. Nah, these guys were merely support troops. Investigators for the real deal. This distraction was all it took for the real hunters to launch an attack on our hero. A sudden clash was heard as the sword from the hunter conflicted with something else. Alexis' armor. "Why didn't you idiots wake me up?!" she said angrily. "I could've died!" 

"Oh, sorry about that." Duiguid said. "Hey Ko, let's..."

Duiguid turned around to see that Ko was just standing there, as though drawn away by some unseen force. Then all of a sudden, his body relaxed and he turned towards them. "We'll have to run this time. More are coming." Both Duiguid and Alexis were surprised. Quills have poor hearing. How could he know that? He looked at both sternly. "Don't question me. Just know I'm right. We'll meet up when we can." Alexis was about to say something when Duiguid stopped her. He nodded and then moved his eyes as if to say just go. She knew that this meant that Duiguid had heard something as well. But why did Ko hear it first? She transformed into her armor. Duiguid never got tired of seeing the transformation. When she wasn't in the armor, it appeared as a normal silver necklace with a ring seal on the end. The transformation was never the same twice. This time, the ring divided into multiple pieces, each piece fusing itself in fragments to her body. When the fusion was complete, she dashed off. Then Ko and Duiguid went the other direction. as they ran, they noticed that the number of hunters rapidly grew, the attacks becoming more and more sycronised. They needed to improve their odds. "Duiguid we'll have to split up." They'll break into teams to follow us. Duiguid nooded. "Let's meet up soon guy." They exchanged a high-five and then went seperate ways. The hunters noticed what had happened and so did the same, dividing themselves into two units and then pursuing their targets. As Duiguid ran he heard a chilling scream. He stopped and turned around. "Ko!" he shouted. Instead though, he noticed that the hunters had also stopped. Half their squad was dead and now only five remained. A sudden flash and a wave made Duiguid smile. Alexis. She had practically saved them some much needed time. Duiguid decied it best not to waste such a good opportunity and attacked the remaining hunters. "Blatant Wolf" He shouted, and started running again.
