I smile at De'Quan. He is always so shy and cute. "Do you mind if I ask the guys to go to lunch with us?" I ask De'Quan.

"That would be fun." He says with a smile.

I nod and pull out my phone. I text the guys about lunch and tell them to meet us at the nearest McDonald's. "Come one let's start heading there." I say walking to the car. We speed off out of the parking lot. The drive to McDonald's is short.

I walk in with De'Quan and sit at a big table. I order a tea because it would be a while until the boys get here. I still haven't seen Scar since the fair, but that's not my problem. Suddenly, someone covers my eyes.

"Guess who?" Austin says.

I recognize his voice. "What are you doing here Austin?" I ask.

"You asked us to come." He says with a smile.

"I thought you would come during your lunch."

"We decided to come early." Connor says from across the table.

I smile. "Should we go order?" I ask.

Everyone nods. We go to the register and order what we want. I get a spicy chicken sandwich with a side salad. De'Quan orders a Big Mac meal. We grab the number and head back to the table.

"De'Quan, tell us what you like to do?" Paul asks casually.

"I like to read casually and write." De'Quan answers quietly.

"What do you write about?"

"I like to write about action and romance." He blushes as he says this.

"Can I read it when you're done?" Derrick asks eagerly.

"Sure, I always like criticism." He says with a smile.

Our food is placed down in front of us and we thank them. We wait for the boy's food to be delivered before we start eating.

When we finish, we go to a flea market. I like flea markets because you can find so many interesting things and support the local community. We walk to the first booth. The lady is selling authentic Hispanic foods. I grab corn in a cup, which is corn, mayonnaise, and chili powder in a Styrofoam cup. I pay her and walk to the next booth. I usually buy one item from each stand.

I grab a cute cardigan off a rack. It's all black lace that reaches my ankles. "What do you think babe?" I ask De'Quan who is looking at sunglasses.

"I love it." He says with a wink.

I laugh and continue walking around. I see a ring catch my eye. It has a blue topaz in the middle surrounded by half carat diamonds. The metal is rose gold. The tag screams fake at fifteen bucks, but I love how it looks. I give her the money and slip the ring on my middle finger of my left hand. "I think that could move over one more finger." De'Quan says wrapping his hands around my waist.

I laugh and pay for his things. We walk out and go to the next booth with the guys. Each booth brings something new for me to get. I see one booth with a young lady and her kid. The baby looks hot. I stop by a man selling ice cream. I buy two Mountain Dew's and a popsicle. I go to the lady's booth. "Hey ma'am. Would you mind if I gave him the popsicle?" I ask politely.

"I couldn't ask you to do that." She says with a smile.

"I wanted to buy him one. He seems hot." I smile and hand her the popsicle. "Here, this is for you to." I hand her one of the Mountain Dews.

"Thank you. I really appreciate you." She smiles and takes a long sip.

I smile. I walk out with De'Quan and the guys to the next stand. We keep looking around the flea market. It's huge with all types of booths. My favorite booths are where the people make everything themselves. They work hard on their merchandise and are proud of it. It makes me want to buy everything from them.

Me and the boys walk into a huge crowd of people. We look around. I can't see why everyone is crowded there so I stand up on my toes. I suddenly feel a sharp pain go through my back. I step down and look at my chest. Blood is dripping down my chest. I stumble.

I fall to the ground. My chest is getting tight. I try to breath in, but I can't.

I hear De'Quan scream. "Kacey!" He yells.

I feel someone shake me, but I can't respond. I keep trying to breath in. My breath is getting shorter.

"Call 9-1-1. Now." I can here Connor scream.

I feel someone put pressure on my chest and I wince in pain. It's shooting throughout my body.

"Kacey, please be okay." I hear De'Quan say.

"I-I-I lo-o-ove you." I manage to whimper out.

I lean my head to the side and see De'Quan crying.

"Kacey, stay with us, the ambulance is on its way." Austin says with a shaky voice.

I've been shot before just never in the lung. I can feel the blood trickle out of my mouth slowly. The blood has filled my left lung. My breathing is slow and labored. A tear slips out of my eye, this may be the end and I won't ever see De'Quan again. I can hear the EMT's in the distance. My eyes want to close. I force them to stay open.

The EMT's are right next to me. "Ma'am, can you hear me?" One asks.

I slowly nod my head. Someone presses a firm hand over the wound. The place a mask over my face. I feel my fingers go numb and my eyes want to close. I let them fall closed and welcome the darkness to take the pain away.
