When we get home, I go straight to the bedroom. De'Quan follows me in and lays in bed. I strip off my clothes. I grab some pajamas and slip them on. I lay down next to De'Quan.
"Will you tell me why you were so upset?" He asks with his hand on my hip.
"Alexandrea wrote me a letter. She said you don't like me. She said you won't like a chubby girl compared to a skinny girl." I close my eyes.
"I love you. I love your size, piercings, and scars." He kisses me softly.
I smile. "Let's get some sleep." I cuddle up next to him and lay his head on my chest. Once again, he falls asleep and cuddles close to me.
My alarm wakes me up and I groan. I wasn't ready for school, but I already missed three to four days of school. I roll out of bed and rub my face. I go to the bathroom and remove my piercings. I wash my face down.
"Baby, where did you go?" De'Quan asks from the bedroom.
"I'm getting ready for school. I'm cleaning up." I say drying my face off.
I feel De'Quan wrapping his arms around my waist. I smile and laugh. "Someone's excited." I say.
"I'm just happy you're alive and awake." He says with a smile.
"I am to. I was scared I'd never see you again." I turn around and give him a kiss.
We walk back to the bedroom. We go into the closet to pick out clothes. I pull down a pale pink knitted cardigan. I get a white t-shirt to go under it and black jeans.
I grab my pale pink Timberland boots. I put my outfit together and smile. I apply my black winged eyeliner. I go back into the bathroom and put my piercings back in.
I decide to throw the top half of my hair into a messy bun and curl the bottom of my hair. I pick out a headband with black and white flowers surrounding it. I adjust my hair and smile.
I find De'Quan asleep again on the bed. I laugh and wake him up. "Come on baby. It's time to go to school." I say.
He rubs his eyes. We go out the house and to my car.
"We still haven't talked about who or why you got shot." He blurts out.
I close my eyes. I don't want to think about it. "Let's not worry about it." I say starting the car.
"What if they come back to finish the job." He sounds worried.
"I have an idea of who it is. They don't want to kill me, only hurt me. They won't come after me." I reassure him, but I can still see his worried look from the corner of my eye.
I continue driving to school and pull into the parking lot. I park the car and lock the doors. "I promise nothings is going to happen to me. I'll always be here for you as long as you can work with me." I say grabbing his hand.
"What's going to happen?" He asks.
"I used to be in some dark stuff. Mixed in with the wrong people. They might be coming after me for leaving. I'm trained enough to handle them though." I explain everything to him. I give him a lingering kiss and unlock the doors.
He smiles and gets out with me.
I walk inside the cafeteria and find the guys. "Hey, what's up?" I ask them.
"Alexandrea is starting shit again." Austin says laughing.
"What is it this time?" I ask, boringly.
"She's telling everyone she put you in the hospital." Paul chimes in.
"What the fuck? She couldn't put a cat in the hospital." I say loudly. I look up and see Alexandrea smirking. "Got something to say, off-brand Barbie?" I ask her.
"Actually, I do." She says, walking over to my table.
I stand up and walk around the table. "What is it?"
"The only reason De'Quan is with you is because you put out and I wouldn't. You're just another slut for him." She crosses her arms and smirks.
"Don't call me that bitch. He's the one who said he wasn't ready, maybe get your facts straight before you talk to me." I laugh and turn around.
"He had to convince you he wasn't in it for the sex. What else is a slut good for? You're a slut and that's all you'll ever be. A dirty slut."
"I said don't call me that or you'll be sorry." I threaten her. I try to keep my boiling temper inside and suppress the memories that threatens to push me over my breaking point.
"You're a slut. A dirty, nasty slut. He thinks you're a slut and so does everyone else."
I can't control myself. I lunge at her and tackle her to the ground. I punch her face with all my strength. I punch and punch again. I feel a warm liquid on my hands, but that doesn't stop me from punching her again. I feel someone touch me and I turn and swing on them. I don't know who I just hit, but I turn back around and continue to hit Alexandrea.
"Baby, please stop." I hear De'Quan say from behind me.
My body relaxes slightly, but I still want to punch her. I raise my fist up.
Someone catches my fist. "Baby. Come on. Listen to my voice and follow me." De'Quan whispers into my ear.
I bring my hand down and stand up. For the first time, I can see Alexandrea and everyone else. Alexandrea is unconscious with a black eye and broken nose. She has a cut on her cheek. Blood is everywhere and all over me.
People had their phones out, videotaping.
I see Connor holding his cheek.
My head starts spinning. I start to panic and run out the cafeteria to the girl's bathroom. I run into a bathroom stall. I grab my hair and start pulling. I can hear his voice. "Leave me alone!" I scream.
The voice is getting closer. "No. No. No!" I keep screaming.
"Baby, it's me." De'Quan says.
I unlock my stall door and jump into his arms. I wrap my legs around his waist and squeeze. "I'm sorry." I say.
"I know, and Connor knows that as well." He says petting my hair.
I suddenly want to be as close to De'Quan as I can. I tangle my fingers into his dreads. I move my face in front of his and slam my lips into his.
He tenses up, but relaxes and moves his hands to my ass.
I try to push him on top of the counter, but he pins me down instead.
"Relax. Let me take control." De'Quan whispers. He keeps me pinned to the counter.
