They finally arrived to the Chinese restaurant. Which was still opened, and busy to Lukes surprise.
"In we go!" Michael cheered, running through the doors.
The chime went off as Luke let himself in also, a small asian lady quickly looked up and greeted them softly.
"How may I help you?" She asked, getting the register ready to use, Luke stepped in front of Michael and ordered them whatever the heck Michael wanted, along with Beef and Broccoli for Luke.
The blond paid despite Michael's protesting, and chose their meal for here.
"It should be ten, fifteen minutes."
"Thank you." Luke smiles, grabbing Michael's hand and leading him to the back room where people were sat.
Both Michael and Luke both sat down in seats across from each other. "Listen." Luke started, "I'm a pig when I eat. I am sorry."
Michael laughed, the blond was kinda worried because why is he laughing?
"I'm probably a bigger pig than you." He laughs, playing with the chopsticks. He tries to hold them but then he can't use them because his hands shake too much.
Luke notices this often but never says anything.
It could be a myriad of issues but, it might be personal so Luke doesn't budge.
Luke smiled at him but he started looking at the art in the walls.
Traditional Chinese art.
But there was one piece that was hung, it wasnt Chinese but it was Japanese.
Luke couldn't just ignore it. No.
It wasn't Chinese and it didn't fit with the rest of the art hung up.
Luke was really into the art while Michael sat there awkwardly, arms resting on the table as he tapped on it softly because what the hell does he say to a hot guy who isn't focused on him?
Sure it's just art on the wall but Luke is an art hoe™, there's no way for him to not look at it. But he's just really really into this one particular painting.
"So." Michael starts, fiddling nervously as his hands shake even more than usual.
"The piece you're looking at." He swallows even more nervous because Luke ISNT listening! How dare he?!
With a sigh, Michael leans back, looking at Luke and studying small details about him.
That's when it hit him.
Michael reached into his pocket and pulled out a small pen and reached for the napkin.
He quickly scribbles out some words and put the pen back.
"when you smile i see the colors seep out of you, the blue spewing in beautiful spurts like fire when your infectiously laugh rings through the air."
It was written in his infamous shaky cursive handwriting, Luke noticed Michael sighing in satisfaction, but studying the napkin very very carefully.
"So Michael. You were saying something but you stopped." The blond said, sitting up and facing Michael fully.
"O-Oh! The artwork you're looking at." He started, Luke responded with a soft 'mhm'.
"You look really intrigued by it."
"Oh! Yea. It's not Chinese artwork. It's Traditional Japanese, I almost bought a piece just like it." He said happily, he sat up and looked at the napkins on the table. Along with the decor set up on the table. Michael's favorite was the Welcoming Cat that was in the middle of the table waving to Luke.
"Oh really? What stopped you from buying it? It's a beautiful piece I'm sure." Michael asked, sitting up straight and leaning forward to hear Luke clearer.
"Well. I thought I would buy one from you know, an artist who made it instead of someone who just printed it out. But I can't find the artist anywhere." He sighed, stretching slightly.
Michael smiled softly- mind drawing a blank on what to say.
Instead, he just started at the Welcoming Cat at the table.
"You really like the cat." Luke commented, leaning down to get eye-level with the cat.
"Yea. They're cute. Also, they're a sign of good luck!" He grinned, Luke smiled along which was the cutest thing ever to Michael.
Everything about this scene screamed aesthetic, he just had to get a photo. His memory was not set for remembering this moment.
He pulled out his phone, sliding over to the camera and not so discreetly took photos of Luke playing with the toy.
"You're so cute." Michael grinned, "You're the reason the ice caps are melting."
Luke blushed thirty shades of red, hiding his face while Michael took more photos.
"You're giving me global warming." Luke thought, he continues to hide his face and Michael still snapped photos.
"Excuse me!" A voice said softly, nearly a damn whisper. Michael looked up to it being a waitress holding the food out for the boys.
"Thank you!" They both say in unison, one being mumbled into a jumbled pile of nonsense, while the other was very polite and welcoming.
The lilac boy clapped happily as he picked up the plastic fork.
"No chopsticks?" Luke asked, picking up a pair of chopsticks from the table and opening them.
"Nah." Michael said shyly, "My hands shake too much." He started to eat his food, trying to hold some of the rice on the fork.
Luke began eating too, using them effortlessly. "So can I ask you something?" He says, continuing to eat his food.
"Shoot." Michael responded.
"Why do you shake? Are you always cold? Are you nervous? What is it?" Luke asked, realizing it came out ruder than intended he quickly spewed out apologies.
Michael laughed softly,
"No. I'm not cold or nervous. It's nerve damage, I don't know how it happened, my mom says I was a baby so it stuck with me my whole life."
He looked at his hands which were still shaking but he just got used to it. all the questions, and failed tests because the teacher couldn't read his tests. Stuff like that.
"How'd you cope with that?" Luke asked, twirling a chopstick in his hand. Half of his food is gone, damn the kid eats fast.
"At first, we didn't. The doctors couldn't find a permanent solution, and eventually when I was in school I failed classes. I was bullied and people just assumed I was some freak because I couldn't hold a full cup without shaking. It was really weird. Eventually we did stop buying glass, but my mom refused to baby me." He sighed happily, setting the fork down, Luke nods for him to continue while he has a mouth full of food.
"So I got into Middle School." He let out the most infectious laugh, Lukes heart swelled at just hearing this.
"So in Middle School, kids thought I was cool for it. You know? As an emo kid at the time, emo kids thought I was pretty darn cool because my hands shook , I was different and it was okay. Plus I had a cool fringe."
"I bet you got hella bitches with that." Luke laughed, now this made Michael's heart flip like a gymnast.
He nodded in agreement but blushing too hard to come up with words. He never really heard Luke laugh at anything but he was glad he finally got to.
Even if that meant that Luke
knew about his emo phase.
~
Two full stomachs and a couple high school stories later, the boys finished and both left a big tip for the workers.
Michael quickly stuffed the napkin in his pocket because you know, it looks weird out of context.
Like it's a damn napkin.
"Are we going back to your place?" Michael asked happily, Luke nodded
"So like a sleepover?!" Michael squeaked, hugging Lukes arm.
"A very artsy one." He laughed, walking out of the store bidding the workers a nice night.
Michael quickly follows along, "Thank you for this opportunity." He says softly.
"Of course." Luke smiled, "Now let's go back and do some art shit."
