Authors note:  Okay I have never really wrote a story and stuck with it but I will try to stick with this one.  Just for the record I really did not like One Direction before but my friend got me infected.  So this is my ever so lame attempt at a 1D fan fic.

I'm dedicating this chapter to my friend Mariah who got me hooked on 1D! Thx Mariah

Okay here you go....  And HELP I NEED A COVER!

"Mom they are your friends!  I don't understand why I have to go with you to this party thing."  I was so mad how could my mom make me go to this stupid family and friend party.

"Shelby, this is my good friend Kerry.  You know her, and you have been to her house before."  My mom was busy working in the kitchen while I was sitting on the bar stool just watching.

"The one time I had been to her house was to drop off corn casserole for when her cat died.  Do you know how weird it is to drop off corn casserole at someones house when their cat dies?"

"She is having family come from Ireland just for this party and she invited us.  You should be grateful she thought of us enough to invite us."

"Whatever, but don't expect me to have a good attitude about this."  My mom gave me the thats enough young lady look and went back to working in the kitchen.  I however stompped up the stairs to my room, where I slammed the door, and locked it.  I know really mature for a 17 year old.  Did I really have a choice?  I did not want to go to some stupid family reuniunion that I was not even related to the people hosting it!

My radio was just waiting for me to turn it on, so I jumped onto my bed and put the dial on 101.3 AKA KDWB!  The song Pay Phone was on by Maroon 5.  I sat on my bed and just listened.  It was not a bad song, but it was not my favorite.  My favorite song of all time was One Thing by One Direction.  They were the best.  There actually was a contest going on to win tickets to their Orlando concert, and you had to find the tickets.  The contest was called "Follow the Directions to One Direction" very funny.   The tickets were hidden in St. Paul but some other random fan found them before me.  Who was I to think I would go see their concert anyways?

I just sat in my room listening to the radio.  Listening to songs go by.  Pay Phone, Where Have You Been, Drive By, Somebody That I Used to Know.  The typical teenage songs that were hot right now.  However I feel asleep.

"Shelby, get up, get up, get up now!  Hurry One Direction is on the radio!!!"  My sister was jumping on my bed, and my radio volume was on 100, and thats the loudest it can go!

"Rachel!  Turn that down!  Turn it down!"  I was covering my ears and the music was still clear as day.

"Shelby you love One Direction!  Get up!  WAIT!  IT'S HARRYS SOLO!"  Harry's solo from What Makes You Beautiful came on and Rachel was sitting on me just being quiet so she could hear him sing.  I swear she had mental problems sometimes.

"Rachel turn down the music."  She turned it down to 15 and my ears were buzzing.

"That was fun I knew you should be alerted since they came on."

"Rachel, you didn't have to turn it up so dang loud!"

"Sorry.  Anyways is mom making you go to the family party Irish thing?"

"Yeah. You?"  I was still trying to gain back full hearing.

"Nope."  Rachel looked at me with a satisfied grin.

"What the heck?  Why don't you have to go?" I protested.

"Thats what you get when your the youngest of five kids.  I just pouted for about 15 seconds and I was free."  Rachel being 15 still pouted for things she wanted and I was the only sibling who had to go to the party.   My three older sibling were all in college or married.  No fair.

"You are so lucky."  I slugged out of bed and was walking out of my room with Rachel on my tail.

"Shelby, are you excited for Greg and Josh to come home from college next week?"  Greg and Josh were my two older twin brothers who were 19.

"Yeah of course.  Aren't you?"

"Yeah, but mom said all they would do is sleep."

"What do you expect college makes teens tired."

"Whateves."  Rachel left to her own room and I prodded down the stairs and into the living room.  My oldest sister Marla was sitting on the couch with her husband Terry and they were discussing travel plans for their vacation to Paris later in the year.  Marla had just arrived with Terry yeaterday.  Our whole family was going to spend a bunch of time with each other since summer just started a week ago.

"Hey Shelbs."  Thats what Marla and only Marla can call me.

"Hey Mars."  And thats what I and only I can call her.

"How are things going?" she asked totally dropping the conversation with Terry.

"Not too well.  Mom is making me go to her party tomorrow.  I really don't want to."  Marla just sat and sipped her iced tea.

"It won't be as bad as you think.  I have been inside Kerrys house with mom tons of times and she has a really cool garden outback.  Maybe if you sneak away from mom you can go hide out there.  It's like a jungle, and it's huge."

"Thanks for the tip Mars." I said.

"No prob Shelbs."  I walked out of my house and onto the deck outback of the house.  I looked out at the beautiful scene before me.  The hills and the wonderlust sunset.  My house was in the middle of no where and for that I was so happy.  At night the sunset was right behind our house and could take anyones breath away.  I just stood and watched the sun sink beyond the horizon.  I felt happy but was dreading the day ahead.
