Chapter 19: The real beginning
Bryce
I was in the middle of making lunch until 8 simple letters came into mind...Memories. When we were in the hike, lots of memories came into mind. After Hailey said that sometimes from memories we're afraid to face reality, that described me completely. Almost always, when you have someone or something really close then you're afraid of letting it go because you don't know how it will affect you but when it happens then you face reality and it seems to come out bad but experiences...are learning experiences. We learn from the past and become better people. We move on from the past but sometimes it's hard to forget and it can come back to haunt you. In my life, I've been through lots of learning experiences but one completely changed me and made me become the person Hailey assumed me to be sometimes. How I'm with her now, a caring person, that's the real me and she's bringing me back showing me that there's more. I feel complete when I'm with her and I know she feels like that because I see it in her eyes. She's the most open minded person I've met and she's seen past my walls, not even Zach has been able to open me up like she did. We both need each other because we complete one another and I can see she's been through a lot and we should talk about it but when we're ready
All my thoughts pause when I'm finished making food that she's not here yet and it's been over an hour. I went upstairs to the art room but no presence there so I checked on the room to find her with loud music putting pictures on the wall. She saw me when she turned around to find some more on the suitcase
"I just finished making lunch. You need any help there?" I asked
"Yeah, I'm almost done but you can help with the last few pictures left in my suitcase" she said pointing at her suitcase opened with more pictures
"Okay and what are you doing with the pictures?" I asked curiously
"Working on my 'memories wall' or a wall full of my pictures" she said
"Why put them here? Just wondering" I said and she didn't look embarassed or anything just normal
"Wherever I go, I bring my pictures with me. It sometimes reminds me of unforgettable memories and to cherish the moments we have now knowing that we could never go back to the past. I had them on the other cabin beginning camp but I only had a few pictures in the ceiling since I had top bunk plus I had to check out earlier" she laughed
"That's good. I have a photo album but that's where I live and if I bring pictures, then are the ones that I always take with me because they're important for me" I said
"You can put them up if you want to" she said
"Really? Let me look for them and it's only two pictures" I said and took them out
The first picture is one that was taken early this year with my parents and my brother in front of our house. For me, it's my favorite family picture because we actually look more united together and I could remember that day perfectly.
It was final day of school before spring break and my parents were on a business trip on Chicago so we went to our usual trip back home to be home alone with our aunt that always take care of us whenever they go on a business trip which is once a month. They weren't coming back until the next weekend since they were going to be two weeks on the trip but when we arrived home our aunt wasn't home. That was odd.
