A/N; so sorry I haven't updated: my practices this week have started at 3:30...exactly when I get out of school. So I get home at six, eat dinner, take a shower, and before I know it, it's 8:30, and my brother who sleeps in the office is asleep & I can't upload. You see how frustrating my life is. -.- So be patient with me about my uploads this week! Next week hopefully I'll be back up to speed. Love all of you a hell of a lot (: xx

"Allie, wait!"

Every time my feet threatened to slow down, I pushed them faster. Nothing was more important to me right now than getting as far away as I possibly could from here.

"Allie, slow down, I'm in sandals!"

I turned the corner, bringing a small park into focus and dashed behind a tree, sinking to my knees, my breathing wild. This had to be far enough. At least a mile from the restaurant.

"Allie Hunter."

I looked behind the tree guiltily to meet Lucy's eyes. She was furious.

"What the hell is going on here, Allie?" Lucy glared at me. "You know, this is getting ridiculous. I--"

"I know," I said quietly. "I know, Lucy. I didn't think...I'm so sorry. I wouldn't blame you if you turned around and walked right out on me after all I've put you through today."

"You know, I could, but then I'd be a horrible person, wouldn't I? I'm not like your dad, Allie."

I winced. "You're not. You're...much, much different." I looked at the sky and groaned. "This sucks ass."

"Got that right," Lucy muttered, biting her lip. Suddenly, her eyes widened. "Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?" I raised my eyebrows, turning my ears to the wind. Then I was tackled from behind.

"Allie! Are you okay?" The five boys surrounded me; Harry cupping my face to demand an answer, Liam pressing his hand to my forehead to feel my temperature, Louis and Zayn looking on questioningly, and Niall standing a great distance away from the others.

"I'm...I'm fine. Thank you. I'm...I'm so sorry..." I bit my lip. "I--"

"You will tell me what's wrong right now," Harry demanded.

"Give her some space," Niall commanded, pushing his way through. Harry cautiously stepped away and Niall stood in front of me where Harry had just been.

"Where is he?" he asked.

"Who?" Zayn asked, blinking quickly.

"We ran. I just...I couldn't, Niall. I couldn't even look at him. It was horrible!" I buried my face in my hands. "He just...I...I couldn't."

"No...no, it's okay." He swung his arm around me and tilted my head up to look into his eyes. "We won't let him find you, we'll protect you."

I coughed out a bitter laugh. "Protect me. He's not...dangerous. Just...awful."

Louis nudged my shoulder. "Can you please explain to us what's going on?" I could tell he was trying his best to stay calm. Something must've happened earlier.

"M-my dad is back," I whispered. "When my mum died.... he just up and left. Haven't seen him since. My brother and I..." I paused. My whimpering voice sounded...Irish. Tears filled my eyes. "I can't go back there. I can't even look at him!"

Louis bit his lip carefully. "And you just saw the bloke. Just now?"

"Louis, let her go, mate," Zayn said quietly. I'd learned so far that Zayn was rather the strong and silent type around people, like me, that he didn't know too well.
