Toodles. xx
"I'm sorry miss; you're bag's too big."
I held back laughter as I watched Lucy's face fall.
"You're kidding," she spat.
The flight attendant shook her head.
"You can't check my bag," Lucy told the attendant. "What if it gets lost in the Baggage Claim? I'll have no clothes."
"I'm sorry miss, but it won't fit," the woman said, pursing her lips. I could tell that Lucy was annoying her.
"Too bad." Lucy stuck out her tongue like a six year old and I burst out laughing.
"Give her your damned bag, Lucy," I chortled, nudging her.
"No! I refuse. What happened to living in a free country? She didn't read me my rights." Lucy crossed her arms over her chest.
Next to me, Zayn and Liam laughed, while Louis and Harry rolled their eyes. Niall strolled over to Lucy, placed a hand on her shoulder and said "You're going to get us kicked off our flight."
The group of us were standing, huddled together at the front of the boarding line at our gate where Lucy had just gotten pulled over by the lead attendant. Apparently, if your bag is too big to fit in an overhead compartment, it causes a big fuss and the plane won't leave until the luggage crisis is resolved.
Lucy scanned all of our faces and threw up her hands. "Fine! But if you lose my luggage I'm suing."
"And you'll have the best lawyers in Britain," Liam assured her through his snickers.
"Ha, ha." Lucy rolled her eyes and unwillingly gave her suitcase to the flight attendant. "I hate you guys."
"Love you, too, Lulu," I replied hugging her shoulder.
"Oh no, you gave me up to the enemy. Don't try and act all sweet and innocent," Lucy teased. I swatted her arm.
"So, when does our flight leave?" I asked the boys.
"Eight-fifteen, California time," Zayn announced, checking his watch. "We've got...fifteen minutes until boarding."
The seven of us took seats near the entrance to our gate and I scrolled through my text messages. There was one from my brother, wishing me good luck in Britain and wondering when he could come and visit, and so I replied, telling him that he could come whenever and I would be ecstatic to see him. And it was true--I was just as worried about leaving Aidan alone as I had been about leaving behind Lucy before she decided to come. He wasn't the most responsible person I'd ever met, but I still gave him props for being there for me when no one else was. And now I was leaving him. I felt slightly guilty about this, but Aidan seemed fine with it. Maybe he was glad that he was getting away from his nagging little sister who tried to keep his life right-side-up.
