Her shoulders sagged down further, fully feeling the weight of the mission against her shoulders. It didn't help that the bag she was carrying felt ten time heavier.

The mission Y/N had gone on today with Wanda, Scott, Tony was excruciatingly tiresome and all she wanted to do was collapse on her bed.

It also didn't help that the people she went to find were narcissists and accomplished to get in her head. A bad person who is also mind reader can cause someone to see terrible things. And that's exactly what happened to Y/N.

All she could see after being hit was images of Natasha, her mother, getting hurt by the people she hated the most. And Y/N couldn't do anything about it.

Sitting down onto her bed, she dropped all her stuff and groaned out loud. She lay down on the bed on her back, staring at the ceiling for a long while. It was hard to be at peace for a little while in such a busy place.

Then she removed her bodysuit, putting on a fresh pair of clothes. A long sleeved shirt and sweat pants. Y/N started her way to the kitchen, totally keen on getting something to fill her empty stomach. It had been a long few hours on that plane with just granola bars and water to satisfy her.

She rummaged through the fridge, taking out orange juice and some cut-up fruit. Setting it down on the counter, she poured herself a glass and started to eat. She started to feel a bit better with something good in her stomach.

"Hey Y/N. How was the mission?" Natasha walked in, squeezing her shoulder. The younger girl tensed up, flashes of the same images back in her mind.

"It was fine," Y/N replied blandly, shoving a strawberry into her mouth. She felt her mother shuffling beside her before looking at her properly.

"Are you sure? You don't sound fine," Natasha spoke, crossing her arms. Her shoulder hair length was pushed forward and she was also wearing some comfy clothes.

Y/N looked straight at her food, stabbing a melon piece with her fork. "I'm sure."

"You know you can tell me—"

"I said I'm fine!" She snapped, her mother's mouth immediately shutting closed. She could sense that something had happened with her on the mission and she was clearly upset.

"I don't believe that," Natasha went on. She turned her daughter to face her. Y/N still did not look at her. "What happened over there?"

Natasha knew what it was like to experience things on missions. Things that could haunt you for the rest of your life. They changed you, and it felt like a piece of you was being left behind each time.

A tear escaped Y/N's eyes followed by more until she was outright sobbing. Natasha encased her into her arms, squeezing her tightly and whispering sweet things to calm her down.

"It's okay, sweet girl," Her mother said, Y/N burying her face into Natasha's shoulder.

"Tell me," Natasha said and Y/N explained through years and hiccups of the things she saw. Losing her mother was her worst fear. And she saw it almost become a reality in her mind.

Natasha kisses her forehead, rubbing her back. "Look at me, Y/N."

She did. Her mother held her cheeks, wiping away the stray tears. Y/N smiled slightly as her mother did.

"I'm not going anywhere. Okay? I'm here to stay. Those people are never coming back. And you know more than anyone I am capable of handling myself." Natasha caressed her hair and Y/N nodded.

"I know mom, I know," Y/N said, wringing her hands together. "But I was still so scared."

Natasha hugged her daughter again, the two of them in a tight embrace. "There is nothing to be scared of, love. I'm never leaving you."

Y/N nodded. She knew in her heart amongst the fears that this was true. "And I will never leave you either. I love you mom," She whispered.

Natasha smiled, kissing her daughters forehead again. "And I love you."
