You moved on. You started a family. Ten years passed since you saw Mitch and you felt lost but also at peace knowing that he was doing what was best for him. Of course you worried once in a while, but those thoughts only wandered into your mind when you had time to think. You had other things to focus on anyway.

You had a loving husband and a daughter who was 4 named Katrina, in honor of Mitch's girlfriend. You still lived in the same apartment, but you took down all of the pictures of Mitch except for one which you took of him when you were both in high school and you thought that picture showed his unique personality the best.

You were playing with Katrina while your husband was at work and curiosity struck the little girl. "Mommy?" She asked. "Who's that?" And pointed her small finger at the picture of Mitch.

You took the picture down and handed it to her. "That's your Uncle Mitch," you explained simply.

"Where is he?" She nudged. Katrina was asking so many questions, but you though she deserved to know the great man he was.

"He works for the government and his job is top secret," you said. "But you can't tell anybody," you said and held out your pinky.

Katrina's eyes widened with astonishment. She then linked her pinky with yours and said "I promise!"

You laughed lightly and she turned back around to play with her toys.

You sighed happily and put the picture back on the mantle. When you were about to sit back down next to your daughter, the phone rang and you walked over to it and picked it up.

"Hello, who's calling?" You asked and smiled at Katrina.

"This is the government," the man on the other side of the phone replied. Your smile quickly faded away and worry stood in place of your happiness. "Your brother Mitch has been shot and is no longer with us..."

The man went on to say more but you stopped listening. You dropped onto your knees and let the phone slip out of your hands. Hot tears started steaming down your cheeks and you couldn't bring yourself to believe the truth...That Mitch was with your parents now.
