[Louis]

Louis turned onto his back with a groan, a buzzing sound invading his sleep. He fumbled for his phone, his other hand rubbing his eyes. Wasn't it like the middle of the night or something? Cracking an eye open, Louis eyed the closed curtain. No sunlight seeping through the cracks.

His phone continued buzzing.

Grumbling under his breath, Louis grabbed it, cursing Liam under his breath as he noticed the caller. He accepted the call, pressing the phone to his ear and settling against the bed://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yVTmJ3rBsaY For a second, he looked down at the space where he had expected Zayn to be asleep, but it was empty. He touched it. Empty and cold.

"What the hell mate, it's night," Louis mumbled, leaning forward to look towards the bathroom. Maybe he'd gone to take a wee.

"Louis," Liam's voice was breathless. "Listen to me, Zayn woke up, he's not feeling well and he fainted. Louis, he fainted, you need to wake up."

Louis' heart slowed down and he sat up abruptly. "W-what? Liam, slow down, I don't-"

And Liam started to explain everything to him in a more steady manner, but Louis could easily detect the worry in his voice. He jumped off the bed and hurried down the stairs, phone still pressed to his ear.

"He was walking up the stairs, it was a bad fall-"

Louis's breath hitched when he saw the crumpled boy on the floor. Hurrying down, heart pounding in his chest, Louis crouched down beside Zayn. "Zayn," he said gently, turning his body towards him. His heart sank at the blood that coated Zayn's temple, and Louis was starting to panic. He tried to swallow the lump in his throat as he checked the boy's pulse, his skin hot under Louis' fingertips. Louis shook Zayn gently. "Zayn, hey, wake up, buddy." Zayn's eyes remained closed, his lips parted, cheeks flushed. His chest was heaving and falling steadily, but that didn't ease Louis' worry. He grabbed the phone where Liam was demanding to know what was going on.

"I-I don't know, he's not waking up," Louis said, reluctantly laying the boy down as he hurriedly went to fetch some water. He put the phone on speaker. "Why was he even awake?" he asked as he filled a glass.

"He wasn't feeling well, couldn't sleep, aren't you following what I've been saying?" Liam said and his annoyed tone was followed by a sigh. "Sorry, I'm just worried. It's frustrating to know I can't do anything to help when I'm so far away."

Louis grabbed the phone and glass of water, hurrying over to Zayn. "You better not hang up on me, Payno, I'm freaking out," he said, splashing a few drops on Zayn's face. "Zaynie, hey, wake up. Look, I've got red gummy bears for you." Zayn didn't as much move a muscle. Louis bit the inside of his cheek. "I'm taking him to the hospital."

"Yeah, okay, don't go alone," Liam said worriedly. Louis picked Zayn up easily, his phone sandwiched between his ear and shoulder. "I dont have time to wake anyone up."

"Louis, calm down," Liam tried, his voice firm. "I know how you're feeling, man, but have someone else drive."

If the situation was different he would have joked to Liam that he wasn't going to crash the car or anything, but Louis simply breathed out in defeat. "Fine, but stress won't do mum any good. I'll take Charlotte with me." He set Zayn down on the shoe bench, heart squeezing. He already felt guilty for letting this happen under his responsibility, he couldn't imagine if something was horribly wrong with the boy.

They were admitted quickly, and Louis had Liam on FaceTime during the wait. Charlotte kept assuring him that Zayn would be fine, but Louis just needed the boy to wake up. If Zayn would just open his eyes, he knew he'd at least feel a little relieved.
