Chapter Three: Connected

(Y/N) didn't know where they're going but by Sherlock's attitude, it's because of the case. The thick silence between them makes her nerves shake. (Y/N) wants a good working relationship with Sherlock and getting comfortable together. (Y/N)says, "How did you meet John Watson? It looks like you been friends for years."

(Y/N) says, "How did you meet John Watson? It looks like you been friends for years."

"John Watson and I met when he came back from the army and needed a place to stay at," Sherlock says. "John needed the thrill and excitement in his life and I gave it to him." (Y/N) intently listens to Sherlock. Sherlock seems like he has trouble becoming close to someone or maybe he doesn't want to be close to anyone.

(Y/N) feels tears prickle the edges of her eyelids just by looking at the victim. He was married and had three children. This victim was found dead outside with seven stab wounds to the back of his torso. It looks like the victim was taking out the trash before he got attacked. His wife went to check on him after he was taking to long and called the police.

Death is the only thing that is promised to us.

The detectives on the case are saying that the cases aren't connected at all, but (Y/N) has a feeling it is. Of course, they wouldn't want to connect the cases to not provoke fear in the black community. This is the fourth black person being stab seven times in the torso. The media is still not reporting this because the victims aren't white.

"Are the cases connected, Sherlock?" asks Greg Lestrade.

Without hesitation, Sherlock says, "I'm certain that they are."

(Y/N) looks at the ground and sees no shoe prints on the ground. She looks around to see where the murderer could have gotten in the backyard. The murderer came and attacked the man from the behind. The victim wasn't holding any trash bags so he was walking away from the bins and then was attacked, (Y/N) thinks.

Sherlock jumps over the fence and disappears. Sherlock says, "(Y/N)?"

(Y/N) hopes he isn't trying to get her to climb over the fence, she couldn't even do a proper hurdle. How is she going to get off the fence? Sherlock calls out, "(Y/N), come here please." (Y/N) attempts to climb over the fence just to fail massively. Greg couldn't watch this embarrassing attempt to climb the fence and gives (Y/N) a slight push up. The first thing (Y/N) sees when she gets down is the two sets of shoe prints.

Sherlock says, "Lestrade call the forensics, we have our first clue."

(Y/N) didn't know how she was going to get back to her apartment from here. Sherlock ditched her at the crime scene as he went to do god-knows-what. She stares at her phone not sure if she has enough money to get a ride here to my house. A black slick looking car pulls up right in front of me. An old man wearing a suit opens the door and inside a woman looks at me. The woman says, "(Y/N) (L/N), my employer wants to talk to you."

"Um..who is your employer?" (Y/N) asks while staring at her. Is this the new way to kidnap people?

The woman answers, "One of Sherlock's associates." (Y/N) wanted to know more about Sherlock, so she thinks 'fuck it, let's do it'.

(Y/N) enters the car while gripping her phone in slight fear. The ride was uncomfortably silent especially with all the attempts of starting a conversation with the woman. The car comes to a halt in front of a building. She escorts me into the building until we reached an office.

"My employer is ready to see you," The woman says and opens the door for me. The man wears a good suit. He is flicking through a notebook, doesn't look up.

"Have a seat, Ms Mai," The man says. (Y/N) glances around - the woman is already walking briskly away from them. She considers - but what choice does she have. She starts heading towards the man and the offered chair. (Y/N) sits down on the chair and observes his features. "What is your connection with Sherlock Holmes?"

(Y/N) says, "I'm his assistant but I still don't know why that has anything to do with you."

"I'm an interested party," The man says while critiquing my appearance.

'Interested party' in Sherlock Holmes?! She knew Sherlock would have some enemies and that there are going to be people who are interested in Sherlock but to take his three-day assistant creates some questions. It seems like he loves Sherlock. (Y/N) asks, "Why are you interested in Sherlock?"

"I'm his enemy. In his mind, certainly. If you asked him he'd probably say his arch enemy. He does love to be dramatic." The man says with a bitter look on his face.

Everything finally clicks and (Y/N) asks, "So brother?"

"Yes. If you continue to work with Sherlock. I would be happy to pay you a meaningful sum of money, on a regular basis, to ... ease your way. In exchange for information about how and whats his doing," the man says. Sherlock must shut people out and have difficult past for his brother to come to this solution to protect him. I would have talked to Sherlock before I answer. I need the money and he isn't going to pay me as far as I know.

Sherlock is sprawled on a sofa, seemingly in dreamy contemplation. His left arm has rolled up one sleeve and is fiddling with something at his exposed forearm. 'Nicotine patches?' (Y/N) thought. She asks, "What are you doing?"

"I am entering my mind place," Sherlock says.

(Y/N) asks "With nicotine patches?"

"Nicotine patch - helps me think! Impossible to sustain a smoking habit in London these days - bad news for brain work!" Sherlock says.

(Y/N) says, "I met your brother. He offered me some money for information, I am gonna take it."
