Before getting the opportunity to attack, something strange happened to my machine. I am not very positive about this, but it almost seemed as if the limbs on the machine locked up. The controls wouldn't work, and I couldn't move. It was terrifying to think that my fear with this machine may be true. I may die today because of a failure to trust this machine.
"Will, what's wrong!"
"Get out of the way!"
Unable to defend myself, I braced myself for the attack. The XK-01 fell to the ground as the Leviathan somehow managed to push back the others. Alicia and Kevin were lost in my sight as the machine dug into my own. Warning lights flashed above me as I couldn't help but panic.
"Do you feel it yet, Ashton? Do you feel the fear that dozens had to face through your hands?" Valdez shouted out to me. "All those men, women, and children you've killed deserve to see your blood. Don't you think so?"
I couldn't help but cry out in pain as I was violently pulled out of the machine and brought closer to what seemed like a door. It opened, revealing some water like substance, before stuffing me inside. That strange substance stung as it touched me. It was hard to breathe, and the small dark space made the panic grow.
Almost instantly, wires entered my body, pulling at me as if I were some puppet. The more I wanted to fight it, the more I couldn't move.
'Settle down, William, and it won't be so bad. The more you struggle, the more painful it will be.'
I closed my eyes, wondering whose voices it was. One of the sounds is familiar to me, but as for the other, I've never heard it before. I'm sure of it.
'Everything will be okay. Don't worry about anything.'
Who is that voice inside my head? Why are there two of them?
All of a sudden, images flashed around me rapidly, each playing out a certain scene. I tried to focus on one, but they were so fast, I couldn't tell.
'My boy. How I tried to keep you safe. If only I tried harder to prevent this from happening. You and your mother would have been safe.'
Suddenly, an image of an older man settled in front of me, confusing me even more. What is this machine showing me?
The more I studied the man, the more I realized the similar features we shared. Grey eyes. Dark brown hair. Similar face structure. Was the man I'm looking at really him? Adam Kingston?
'Well, I warned you that you shouldn't fight with my guerrillas, Kingston. It's almost a shame that you didn't die back in the field along with the other men in that disgusting little village.' Damien Ashton walked into view, forcing my father to look at him. 'Do you like this solution? It's not a fun thing to experience, but you should know all about that. After all, this was something your good friend, Dr. Peterson was working on.'
'What do you want, Ashton? What else could you possibly take away from me?!' Adam shouted. It almost looked as if he would cry, but even if he would, he couldn't. 'You already took my wife and son away. You destroyed our quiet, little home, and all the people who lived in it. What else could you possibly want?'
Ashton smiled as he said, 'I want the blue prints for the Leviathan that your father is currently having made. I want to throw this world of ours into chaos. Once everyone burns, there would be no one left.' He let out a frightening laugh before saying, 'Don't worry about your son, Kingston. That boy is safe for now, but only because I grew attached to him. Maybe one of these days, he'll be of use to me.'
'Don't you dare hurt my son! I swear to God, if you hurt him, the Leviathan will destroy you.'
