Zane's hand.
I screamed and let go in shock, and then faced him. Zane had a nasty scar on his face, right from his eye to his mask, and probably underneath it.
It had defiantly been more than three minutes, so even if Zane was attempting to kill me , his brothers would show up. Sadly.
"What is it this time Zane?" I sighed, waiting for his response.
"Hi. Do you remember... this guy?" Zane held a bag, and pulled out of it none other than Ace.
"Hey, why do you have him?!" I snapped, grabbing for Ace's sleeping body.
"Well, since his father's tragic death, I thought he would like to be back with one of his close friends." Zane evilly smirked under the mask, and threw Ace back in the sack.
"What is it?" I hissed, currently p.oed.
"Get me that fragment from Emmalyn, and then maybe your tiny friend can live a few more days."
"Zane, if you do anything to him, I will make sure you don't take another breath."
"Is that a yes?" He took a step towards me, and I drew my sword in reflex.
"Never, not in Irene's name." I glared into his eyes, and he smiled, gesturing Ace.
"Well, what if I have more than one thing you want? More than a toddler who still has teeth coming in?"
"I'd whip your sorry ass for lying." I growled. I was suddenly flattened, and a burning foot printed area of my back began to burn.
"...Like, a lover?" Zane held in his laughter, but it barely was held.
"Why are you with him of all people, Levin?" I turned upward, but was smacked into the ground once again.
"He's a million times better than you. Plus, I have an alliance with him to help you, Loki." Levin spat my name like the dirt I kicked in his face that day everything went wrong.
"Levin, stop it. You loved me."
He laughed. "Please, if I loved you, I would have ended your life long ago."
"Levin. Pheonix. Snap out of it."
"Loki, I don't love you, I never did, and never will. Run along and get that fragment."
"No!" I shouted.
Zane pulled out Ace's body, to reveal he was burnt horribly, or atleast for his age, and  had a cut on his forehead.
"Don't hurt him! Lev, you wouldn't do this. You wouldn't hurt an innocent kid. Please, leave him out of it."
"No, I won't let my ticket slip away." Zane said, setting Ace on the ground. "Levin, if she doesn't obey, kill her."
I looked at him, and his eyes. They were filled with pure anger and rotting hate. "Gladly." He snarled.
"I'll never give you your fragment. Not ever."
"Levin, go ah- OH. OH. Hello, little one." Zane turned in shock over my shoulder to see the last person I'd expect to be here, and the last person I wanted to be.
"Let Loki go." Alina said, and pouted towards Zane.
"Alina, go home NOW." I said, urgently.
"No. Mr, please let Loki go." Alina said, looking mad.
"I'm sorry, I really cant. Run along home, kid. I don't know yet what I want with you."
"Alina. Home. Please, I'll do anything."
"No. I don't think they like you." She said. Alina quivered in the cold night, without her jacket.
"I am going to be perfectly fine, just go home. Everything will be okay by morning."
"P-promise?" She asked sleepily.
"I swear. You, me, and Lilith can play in the morning. Go back to bed. Please." I said, slightly moving her with my foot.
"Okay." She left, and I put a soft spell over Aph's house, so Alina couldn't come back.
"Well, I was going to say that you could kill her, but I think I have a more painful torture for this one."
He held out Ace's little body, and tossed it to Levin. Ace's small hands were bloody, and his face had a small cut.
My heartbeat instantly quickened.
I'll always protect those who need to be. I need to PROTECT Ace. Before Lev or Zane can get to him.
"I said no."
Something  painful is love. It tears up your insides, and guts every feeling you have. When you have to hurt your love for the better of it, your entire body feels like it's just been torn through lava and back up. Every moment you had that you cherished with them is thrown in the flames, and then turned to ice. Long story short, it hurts.
So when I smashed Levin into Zane and threw the two in a hole, grabbed Ace, and began to run for my life, the agonizing chains of love attempted to drag me back. He's in a hole. With zane. I just left him there, wow.
I looked down to Ace, who was still sleeping, and knew in a heartbeat it was worth it. Every scratch on his body made me fill with anger. I know Gene had dumped me and Levin's memories of love in the trash, straight down there, and dissolved them. I know that Shad and Zane and Levin are going to play my strings, try and use me, but I have a will to keep. When I saw the spot I swore Garroth and Vylad to stay unless there was an emergency, the two still stood.
"Hey, jerks! I was assaulted by Shadow Knights! I almost died!! That was like, twenty minutes!!" I hissed at the two, baring my teeth.
"Loki, that was 10 seconds."
"No, what's wrong with you?! That was for sure twenty minutes of horror!"
"Where are your machetes? Isn't that what you went to go get?"
"Yeah, but I was scared half to death by Zane, Levin, and what they did to Ace." I hissed again, holding Ace's body.
"Is he dead?" Garroth asked. To be honest, right now I didn't know.
"No, his chest is still moving. But he's in a bad shape. Do you know what happened to him?" Vylad said, taking my friend from me.
"No. Zane just pulled him out of a bag. Bitch."
"Yeah, he is. Quickly, we should get Ace medical help, now." Garroth said.
We went to Donna and Logan, although they were asleep, they agreed to help. By morning, Ace was awake, and all that was left of his cuts and bruises and burns was one cut on his cheek. Donna claimed it was a scar for he future. I payed her with nine gold bars.
"Where did y-" Vylad stuttered
"My child , don't question it." I shushed  his mouth with my hand. Vylad crouched down to somewhat match Ace's height.
"Hey, I don't think we've met. I'm Vylad, and you?" Vylad held out his hand, and Ace somewhat shook his.
"I Ace!" He smiled.
"Loki! We have to play!" Alina and Lilith came running, and didn't stop fast enough to prevent crashing into me.
"Yeah. Cause like I said, everything'll be okay. I promise."
So I just went off with the girls and Ace, forgetting all worries. Except one.
Levin.
