*(Jacks POV)*

I sat on the mossy bench in the middle of the overgrown garden. So many people walked around talking to one another.  I smiled as I watched them. They were all so happy. I looked around the small courtyard that sat in the center of the large two-story building. The windows showed my reflection and showed only hints of what what I see when I look away.

As I came back to reality I watched as Sierra broke off her conversation with Tantra and started to walk over to me. Her dark brown hair covering the gunshot wound on her chest. Her white, now light grey, nightgown still had blood stains that were faded from years of being trapped here. "Good afternoon." She said being her usual happy self as she sat next to me on the bench.

"To you too." I said back with a smile still on my face.

"Have you eaten lunch?" Sierra asked.

"No. I had a big breakfast."

"Okay, but eat dinner. Anyway, when is he coming?"

"In about an hour, I think," I check my watch that Felix gave me, "Well, forty minutes."

"That's good. Well, I'm gonna go talk to Tantra. See ya."

"See ya."

-----Time Skip-----

I looked out the window of my room to see Felix starting to make his way to the back of the asylum. I turned around and ran to the back door. I waited for a knock until I almost ran my face into the door shoving it open and throwing Felix off balance when I hugged him. He just laughed and hugged me back as he regained his balance. "I don't visit for a day and you act like it's been years." We both started laughing as we walked inside, heading to the cafeteria.

We sat at a the table closest to the door. He grabbed his drawstring bag he had on and set it on the table. I watched contently as he pulled out each item. He pulled out a loaf of bread, Nutella, 3 water bottles and a couple granola bars. I reached for a granola bar and pulled off the wrapping. He got out his own sandwich and started eating it.

When I finished the granola bar I put the water bottles in a small cooler across the room and put everything else in a cupboard above the cooler. "How've you been?" I asked as I sat back down next to Felix. He was fixing a part of his golden brown hair. Which didn't need a lot of fixing since it's not that long.

"Pretty good. I finally got a job at a coffee shop in town. I also met a guy at school and he's really nice. So I was able to not be lonely at lunch, that's a bonus."

"Wow, finally got a job. You need to bring me some of that coffee, I never had any and you've said it's really good."

"I will, I will. I'll get you some tomorrow."

"Good! Also what about this guy you met?"

"His name is Mark. He is a year older than you, so he's 17. His first day in this school was two days ago, on Wednesday. He's actually a pretty nice guy."

"That's good news. I don't want you to hanging around people who were like the last ones you hung around."

"Jack, trust me, I will never hang around people like that again."

"That's good." We smiled at each other. Then, Felix sighed and put his drawstring bag back on his back.

"I should probably go home now. I have a lot of homework to finish. I'll bring you your coffee tomorrow." He stood up and I followed his movements. I took a step towards him and pulled him into a hug. We stood there for a few moments before I walked with him to the back door.

When he left, I started heading towards my room. Almost everyone was out and about. A lot of them waved at me as I walked by, I waved back.

Once I got to my room I laid in my creaky bed. Mark. Felix says he's nice, but that's how those bullies were at the start. Hopefully, he learned how to tell the genuinely good from the ignorant. I wonder if Mark  is actually a nice guy. If he isn't, well, I can't really do anything about it. At least I won't ever have to deal with him face-to-face. I'll just sleep on it for now. That way time will go by faster and I can have coffee sooner. I let my eyes close and my mind drift off into space.
