*(Jack's POV)*

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket, it was a text from from Felix: I won't come by the front, I'll just go through the woods and get to the door that way. Maybe he just parked in a different spot. I'll ask him when he gets here.

----------

I waited at the back door staring out of the window. Felix came out of the woods. He seemed nervous, he fidgeted his hands with his sleeves and kept looking around. Was someone following him? Once he got to the door I opened it to see him sweating and struggling to focus on me. I gave him a worried expression,"Um, Felix? Are you ok?"

"Jack go to the cafeteria, um , I just have to get something. ok?"

"Felix are you sure you're ok?" He nodded and I left the door cracked open for him as I headed to the cafeteria.

I waited and listened for his footsteps. I wonder what happened. Was he being chased? Did he skip detention? Is he going to surprise me? Did his car break down? Did he crash his car? Did he just get too many books for me and couldn't carry them with him? What happened? My rampaging thoughts came to a close when I heard footsteps. It wasn't just Felix's. No. No! No! No! Someone is following him! I ran to the closet in the corner of the cafeteria. The door wouldn't shut properly unless I made a lot of noise so I left it cracked open. There was till the slight hit of canned beans that Felix and I cleaned out 2 weeks ago.

I heard one of the tables creak, someone must've sat on it. Footsteps. More footsteps. Heavy breathing and some slight hissing sounds as if someone was in pain. My cooler full of water bottles opening. Inaudible whispers. Someone drinking the water. Shuffling feet on the concrete. "Jack?" I heard Felix say. I stayed quiet, the person that chased him would find me if I made any noise. "I know where you're hiding. It's ok. I'm safe, you're safe."

No, you're lying, Felix no. I quietly made my way to the furthest corner of the closet. I pulled my knees close to my chest and held them tightly. They won't find me. I heard Felix talk to the other person, but I couldn't make out the words.

Don't find me. Don't find me. Footsteps got closer. It tried to make myself so small so that not even Felix could find me. I held my hand over my mouth so that not even my breath could even be heard. I heard a very quiet knock on the door, the sequence that Felix uses. I could feel my heart pounding. Please. No. Felix's voice was in a very low whisper, so that only I could hear it, "It's ok, Jack. The person with me won't hurt you. Trust me, Jack, please. He had nowhere else to go."

I waited until I decided to respond, "You liar. I trusted you. Leave. Just leave."

Felix sighed and I heard him sit on the floor. "Jack, He just needs a place to stay, he can't stay at my house. I'll leave but he can't. I'll take him to my room. Ok?" He still talked in a low whisper.

"No... take him and leave, whoever this he is."

"I'm sorry Jack, I can't take him with me. I brought you books, hot coffee, along with more food and water. They're on our main table. I'll see you on Wednesday." And with that he left me alone and took the mystery guy to his room. He spilled our well-kept secret. He betrayed my trust. I can't hate him, but I can't forgive him anytime soon either. In no circumstance has he ever taken someone here. Never has he ever told someone about me. He never even brought his girlfriend here. What made him bring someone this time? He brought someone to my home...
