Rescue Me

Chapter 1

(Jessica’s POV)

I can still hear the sounds from the raid. The sounds of yelling, laughing. I can hear men shouting in victory in the background. I can hear my older sister’s screams. I remember that night so well. The terror I felt is still there. I never know if I will be healed. I need someone to rescue me from myself.

Joana called me and told me that the post were up for the new team.

“Come on, you need to check it out!” I looked at her and sighed.

She was be my best friend. Ever since my sister died and I moved from Virginia, she had been there for me every step of the way.

“Jess, you need to look at this, you made the team!” she yelled.

My mom runs into my room, looking as beautiful as always. Her long chocolate hair cascading down her back. Her bright green eyes were gleaming with excitement.

“Jessica, I’m so proud of you. I knew you could do it.” She said.

Joana looked at me waiting for my reaction. To please her, I gave a small smile.

“Thanks mom, it’s a good way to start a new year.” I said.

I was happy I had made the dance team. But the only thing I could think about was the fact that my sister would never be able to watch me dance again. It was slowly killing me on the inside.

“She would have been so proud of you.” My mom reminded me.

I couldn’t help but feel the pain coming back, reminding me yet again that I had lost the one person I had truly ever loved the most.

The next morning I got ready for school. I curled my long auburn hair and dressed in a floral skirt, a light pink V-neck, and white sandals. Florida was constantly warm and rainy, so I packed my umbrella in my brown shoulder bag as well. I put on eyeliner, mascara, blush, and a little lip gloss. I grabbed a banana and a granola bar from the pantry, picked up my keys, and locked the door behind me. I got in my car and headed towards my high school. Preparing myself for yet another year at Hampton High School.

I have been for about a year and a half now and I constantly wish I could go back home. Girls look at me as I enter the school, looking at me as if their afraid I’m going to steal their boyfriends. I know I’m pretty, but I choose not to flaunt it in tight shirts and short skirts like most girls do. I dress cute but modest. Besides, I haven’t met a single boy that has caught my eye. Not one has caught my heart. But I know that there will be one soon that will come and rescue me.

So here's the first chapter :)
