Chapter 2
I walk up to my locker and look to see Joana standing there waiting for me. She’s clad in a beautiful navy sundress and cute white wedges. I smiled at my fashionista best friend. She was just like me, except she had a boyfriend already, his name was Tyler.
“Glad to see you feeling better.” She said as she beamed at me.
I rolled my eyes at her. Just then, Tyler came up and wrapped his arms around her waist. She giggled and turned her head to peck him on the lips.
Tyler was perfect for her. He was about 6 inches taller than her 5’7 frame. Dark wavy black hair and cobalt blue eyes. He was clad in his usual black V-neck with dark blue jeans and tennis shoes, with a casual smile on his face.
“And how is the best girlfriend in the entire world and her bestie doing today?” He asked us.
I started laughing, loving the way he could easily make someone smile.
“Nothing the usual, talking about how bad you played at the scrimmage last night. Like, what was that babe? Lost your touch or something?” She said. I laughed even harder when I saw his expression.
“Babe, you wound me. You know I’m not the quarterback for no reason right?” He questioned.
She punched him in the arm.
“Of course I know that silly, I wouldn’t be with you otherwise.” She admitted.
Tyler just laughed at her being sarcastic and kissed her lips.
“Love you to babe.” He responded. Just then the bell rang for first period.
“I’ll catch you guys later.” I said, and turned around and headed towards the Physics lab.
I was taking all AP classes this year to look good on my college application next year. I’ve wanted to go to Stanford ever since I was a little girl. I’ve taken advanced classes since middle school. Once my sister died, I knew she wouldn’t want me to quit, so it made me try even harder. I even got the highest GPA last year in my class.
I walked into the room and took a seat in the middle of the classroom. Our teacher, Mr. Garcia, walked in a few seconds later with a black coffee in hand.
“Alright kids, I’m Mr. Garcia, and yes, I believe in homework so groan now if you want to. Today will be simple though, you will simply read the rules and guidelines that are placed on your desk and have the rest of class for free time. Because you are my AP class, this will be one of the only days where you can do this. I hope you enjoy it now.” He then sat at his desk and pulled out a magazine.
I was reading the back of the paper when suddenly the door opened.
“Sorry I’m late.” The voiced said.
“It’s quite alright, take a seat anywhere you like...Uhh”
“Asher, Asher Wilson sir.” He said politely. That’s when he turned around and looked right at me.
He had the most beautiful hazel eyes I had ever seen. Golden blond hair, with a chiseled nose and face. His broad shoulders stood out and you could see the muscles within the outline of his navy and white baseball shirt. He had a six-pack, easily defined, wearing dark jeans and black boots. He was absolutely gorgeous. A God recreated. I felt a pull and tug just from looking at him.
He’s the one, he’s going to save me, my conscious told me. I could only pray that it was right.
He gave me a casual smile and took the seat right in front of me. I could smell a heavenly scent waft off of him. Something with spice, and a little tangy. I loved it. He turned around in his seat to talk to me.
“Hi, I’m Asher, it’s nice to meet you. In case you can’t tell I’m a little new in town.” He explained. He golden eyes gleamed at me. I looked at him and tried not to blush.
“I’m Jessica. I’ve lived here for about a year and a half now.” I told him. He smirks at me and I feel myself flush anyway.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, do you mind if I see your schedule. It would be nice to have a familiar face show me around school too if you don’t mind.” He said. I could see he wanted more than just me showing him around.
*Asher’s POV*
As I headed towards the school. All I could think about was my mom. She looked so tired. I wanted to stay home and watch my baby brother just so she wouldn’t have to try and find another babysitter. She told me to hurry to school, I kissed her cheek and said goodbye.
As I enter Hampton High I think about how much has changed since we moved here. How I don’t constantly have to be reminded as the guy with a dead beat for a dad. I was the man in the family now. I knew it was my job to protect them.
I watched as many girls’ jaws drop as I enter. I’ve never had a girlfriend before. I’ve never really had the time to. All I could focus on was school, football, and my family. Nothing else ever really mattered.
As I walk through the front office and to the desk, a little old lady turns around to greet me.
“Well hello there son, how may I help you?” she asked nicely.
“I’m sorry ma’am. I’m a little late for class. I was wondering if you could give me my schedule and a pass to class if that isn’t too much to ask for.” I replied. My mom practically beat into me to always be respectful to everyone, no matter what they’ve done.
“Sure sweetie, what’s your name?”
“Asher Wilson,” I said.
She handed me my schedule and I hurried to my Physics class. I’ve always been pretty smart, and I wanted to go to UCLA in the future, so I take advanced classes. As I enter the classroom I quickly apologize and give the teacher my name. That’s when I see her.
Long glowing auburn hair with chocolate brown eyes clouded by thick dark brown lashes. She was so beautiful and breathtaking. Her tiny frame blew my mind, along with her figure. She was wearing a pink v-neck and a cute flower skirt. Her long tan legs captivated me. I could feel myself getting hotter by the second.
Man, she’s hot my inner self said. I gave her a smile and she turned away from me. Maybe she’s shy I thought to myself. I quickly took a seat in front of her. I was nervous. I’ve never felt this way before. I didn’t know how to react or what to say. The first thing that came to mind was to reintroduce myself.
“Hi, I’m Asher, it’s nice to meet you. In case you can’t tell I’m a little new in town.” I told her. She blushed a little bit. She was so cute.
“I’m Jessica. I’ve lived here for about a year and a half now.” She said to me. She blushed even harder. Oh yeah, I could get used to this beautiful girl, I thought.
“Well it’s nice to meet you, do you mind if I see your schedule. It would be nice to have a familiar face show me around school too if you don’t mind.” I wanted to get to know her better. Somehow I knew that she would be the one who would help me. She would finally save me from myself.
