Unknown POV
I watched as Katherine and Mrs Watson left the Clarke household. What was Katherine doing there? Up to something with Nick, maybe?
I thought about doing it now. But, no. It would mean, Mrs Watson would have to be involved too, and she was innocent.
Katherine looked utterly bored, whereas Mrs Watson looked quite excited. Where were they off to then? Should I follow them?
I made up my mind as they got into Mrs Watson's car and drove away.
I started up my quiet engine and started driving, keeping an innocent distance from the little car.
Katherine's POV
When we arrived at the shopping centre, I turned to Maddy. 'What exactly are we shopping for then?'
'A dress, some shoes, and a some accessories... and maybe book an appointment at the hair stylist's.' She told me.
'Won't just a dress do, it's not prom.' I asked. 'And what's wrong with my hair?'
'Sweetie, this is a college reunion.' She said dramatically. 'You have to look amazing. As for your hair? You've got some dreadful split ends, they might need trimming. Apart from that, there's nothing wrong with your hair, it's lovely.' She grinned and I rolled my eyes.
'C'mon then.' I said and we walked into the first store.
Instantly, Maddy began getting dresses from racks and then gave them to me. 'Here, try these on. No arguments.'
I sighed and went into a changing room. I tried on the first dress which was a make-me-sin red and was really short and tight, and it was an off-shoulder dress too.
I stepped out the changing room and walked over to Maddy.
She studied me for a few seconds. 'It definitely shows off your curves.'
'I feel like a hooker. Have you seen how short it is?' I replied bluntly.
'You're right. Next!'
I went back into the changing room and tried on a light pink full length strapless gown. I suppose it was alright...
'You actually do look like you're going to prom.' Maddy told me. 'Plus, light pink really isn't your colour. Next.'
'Oh, thanks!' I said sarcastically and went back. This time I tried on a dark red velvet dress with 3/4 sleeves and a floaty skirt.
'This could be the one.' I said, as I left the changing room. 'I quite like it.'
'Yeah, it does go great with your pale skin. I like it too.' Maddy nodded approvingly. 'But try on the last one now and then we'll decide.'
'Fine.' I went back into the changing room. I changed into the royal blue sleeveless lace skater dress and then left the changing room.
Maddy gasped. 'Oh my god. You look amazing. If I were a guy, I would totally do you.'
I looked at myself in a nearby mirror and I knew that the dark red dress didn't stand a chance.
'You have to get this one!!' She said excitedly.
'Definitely. It looks amazing, and makes me feel confident and sexy.' I said.
'Yes, you own it girl!' Maddy said, and I laughed.
'Well, well, well. That's quite a dress, Katherine.'
I turned around to see Rebecca walking over.
'Hi Rebecca.' Maddy said.
'Hiya.' Rebecca smiled. She turned to me. 'You going to some sort of party?'
'Yeah, me and Nick have been invited to a college reunion event.' I told her.
'That's nice.' She nodded casually. 'Has Nick got someone to take yet?'
'Actually, he's taking me; we're going together.'
I saw some sort of emotion cross her face, but before I could identify it, it was gone. 'Well, have a nice time. I just came in to get some more shoes. Bye.' She went to the other side of the store.
'Right, get changed, and we'll buy the dress, okay?' Maddy suggested. 'Then we'll go and find some shoes to match. And maybe a belt to go with the dress? I'm thinking brown.'
'Sounds like a plan.' I agreed.
