Three
"Minho, what's happening to you?" April assisted Flint who was checking Minho's vital statistics. Minho was spitting blood and all. He was turning pale as if running out of blood. He's been weakening and worry was painted across his face.
"Minho, stay strong. You're going to be okay." Maggie tried to encourage Minho while holding his hands.
"I-I-I- I'm trying Maggie." Minho managed to say. "B-b-but I'm s-s-sorry, I can't make it." Minho coughed and blood freckled from his mouth. He was breathing heavily.
"Flint, what should we do?" Jerry asked. He was trying to sound calm but eventually, he failed.
"He's sweating. Take off his jacket." April said. Jerry took Minho's jacket off. Everyone froze upon seeing the wound on Minho's arm. It was a bite mark and it was bleeding and swelling. It looked like a dark violet bruise which has an open wound. Instead of red blood, black fluid flowed from his wound.
"He's bitten," Bryce stated. We were stunned to react yet Flint managed to get a bottle of clean water. We didn't know where he got it but he used it to clean the wound. He covered the wound using Minho's jacket afterward.
"We should keep going," Bryce said. "I should drive."
"No. We can't get to camp with Minho in this situation. We need to cure him first. The camp won't let anyone infected in." Flint said.
"Flint's right. Plus, we should add that Minho's infected, they would suspect that we all are also infected." Jerry stated. Everyone turned silent while looking at each other with accusing eyes.
"How do we cure him? The science genetics institute hasn't launched a cure yet. Where can we find the cure?" April asked.
"Yeah, April's right. There is no choice. We should get to camp and leave Minho, " Bryce retorted.
"Shut it, Bryce. Watch what you're saying. Minho's still alive and we can still save him. He's not dead. We should save him before that happens to him. We should save him not because we don't want to be infected. We should save him because he's our friend." Maggie said, looking desperately at Minho.
"Yes, and there is always a choice, Bryce. We can cure Minho. We don't have to find the cure. We have to make one." Flint said.
"Fuck your dumb choices. I swear you're going to regret this. You're all going to regret this." Bryce left them and went outside. April followed him.
"Bryce! Wait." April called out.
"Damn." Jerry cursed himself as he watched April follow Bryce. He's been frustrated with the virus outbreak and now, they're here, fighting. Things do turn upside down.
April went back in rushing. Everyone stared at her as she went inside. She was panting and she was catching her breath.
"Bryce is missing." Everyone was surprised by what April said.
"What? How," Flint asked in dismay.
"I don't know. One second he was there and then he's gone." April said.
"What? Aarrgghhh!" Flint grunted out of frustration.
"First, Minho's bitten and he needs a cure, second, Bryce's gone! Now, what?" Jerry exclaimed.
"Y-y-you don't n-n-need to do this, Flint. Y-y-you can go. You can leave me." Minho managed to say in a small and indistinct voice. He was catching for air.
"We won't leave you, Minho," Flint said. "I'll make a cure for you." Flint looked at April, then to Jerry, and then to Maggie.
Jerry and Flint looked at Maggie as if asking her to give them the journal and start to spill everything.
