Chapter 22

I wake up and I’m in my pj’s. I look around and I am in my bed back in district 12. Finnick is staring at me and so is Peeta. I love being back at home. “ how did I end up here”, I ask Peeta. Well 35 minutes after you fell asleep, we arrived in district 12. I tried waking you up but you were absolutely out of it. So, I carried you in here and layed you on the bed.” Wow, do I feel stupid.

I sit up and I swing my legs over the side of the bed. I grab my crutches and walk downstairs. Peeta is downstairs and he is cooking breakfast. I walk over to him and kiss him on the cheek. He smiles and says,” Go sit down, you need to rest your leg.” .I take a seat next to my children. Rue still isn’t talking to me and Finnick is all talk. Rue gets up and tries to leave but I grab her arm.

“ Oh, no you don’t. You’re not going anywhere until….” Peeta cuts me off and says,” food is ready.” Nobody really talks but after were all done I grab Peeta by his shirt collar and take him to our room. “ hey we need to talk about Rue”. “ She won’t talk to me and I don’t know what to do.” Before I can get the next word out Rue walks in.

She sits down and looks at .me and says,” I’m sorry”. I hug her and say,” It’s alright”. She walks back downstairs and so do Peeta and me. I clean up breakfast and I go take a shower. I get out of the shower and I braid my I see a note on the counter and it says,” went into town be back later Peeta. I decide to go hunting. I leave a note on the counter that I will be back in 2 hours. I put on my boots and my father’s hunting jacket.

 I get into the woods and I feel a presence down by the lake. I see somebody messing up the soil around my dad and sister’s graves. I run down to the lake but when I get there there is nobody there. I just leave thinking about what I had just seen. I see a deer and I aim and shoot. The arrow hits him and kills him instantly. I drag the deer through town and I trade it in at the new hob. It was built 3 years ago. I walk back to the victor’s village.

Jordan, Grayson, and Bobby are outside talking. I walk over to them and they see me. “ hey Kat”, Grayson says. “ So we were thinking about attending sierra’s state of Panem address in 3 weeks. Do Peeta, Finn, Rue, and you want to come?” “ yeah sure It would be great”, I say as I walk back home. I open the door and I hear the shower. Finn and Rue don’t take showers yet so I know that’s Peeta. But then Peeta walks in the door. I go upstairs and check on the kids and they are sound asleep.

Peeta taps on my shoulder and says,” hey why do you have blood on you?” I laugh and say,” deer blood.” The shower cuts off and I toss Peeta his spear. I grab my bow and arrow and swing the quiver over my left shoulder. I grab my walkie talkie and say,” Grayson, Jordan, and Bobby report to the Mellark house now.” Grayson, Jordan, and Bobby come in through the window. They have their weapons too.

I hear a window break and I rush outside. I see a tall girl who likes she’s 20-23 years old. She has grey and black hair. I chase after her but I can’t keep up because of my knee. She turns around the corner and I walk slowly. I see her and she takes off again. I am about to catch up to her and she reverses directions and I can’t react fast enough.

I run as fast as I can and she hopes the fence leading into the woods. I go under the fence and I see her running and she is trapped. I get up to her and she again reverses direction and goes back into town. I am running out of breath at this point. I crawl underneath the fence and chase after her again. I can tell that she is running out of steam but so am I.

I finally catch up to her and tackle her to the ground. My team catches up with me and Peeta hands me the cuffs. I cuff her hands and I lead her back to my house. I set her down on the couch and she looks tired. I give her some water.

I slap her across the face and say,” Who are you and why are you in district 12?” My name is Sloane Snow and I have a message from the capitol.”
