I don't own Attack on titan. Obviously, but i hope you like my first story. Just for the record I don't know how old Levi will be during the main events of the story, but if Isayama won't tell us, I'm making him young. Deal with it!

(Your POV)

Since my very first day in this world I knew I wasn't born to live an ordinary life. One could wonder how can someone, who had never tasted freedom need it so desperatly, but heavens know I did. I never stopped dreaming of the outside world, living my life as a if it was a temporary state until humanity was once again freed of all limitations and so was I. Most of the girls in Shiganshina dreamed of getting married and starting a family.
I used to look down upon them and call them stupid. How could anyone find happiness in life like that? As I grew up I realised - they weren't stupid, and yes, perhaps hapiness could be found behind the walls. Just not my happiness. And that's how my dream was born...

The first time I wished to join the Survey Corps was after my dad's first expedition. Man, was my old man a badass! Even now I still haven't heard about another person to survive their whole survice in the Scout regiment without losing so much as a finger in any of their countless expeditions.

When I was young the most precious sound of all were the bells, marking the soldiers' return. I knew my dad would be there. And he was. Every single time. After an expedition he would sit me down and tell me about all the things he saw. But he never left out the horrors. My mum used to shout at him for scaring me, but that made me stronger and I will always be thankful that he told me the truth.

Nowadays my old man is retired and living with mum in Shiganshina. Some say that he had payed a low price for the peaceful life he's living now, but I know better. I've heard him wake up screaming, covered in sweat from another terrible nightmare, my mother gently talking to him reasuring him he's home and we are all alright.

"We did pay a heavy price after all" she told me as she kissed me on the forehead, hugging me tightly for the last time in a long while. "Our little girl's off to become a soldier."

I hugged both of my parents and got on the horse carriage, leaving home behind. I looked up at the sky. "Wait for me world, here I come!"
