Our mission wasn't a complete success. We could only warn one of the three districts around Wall Maria before they were attacked.

At first no one believed us. I and Levi didn't have our uniforms and without them we looked like crazy civilans, trying to scare the people. A couple of soldiers of the Garrison even tried to arrest us. "You claim you are Lance Corporal (Y/n) (L/n) of the Scouts regiment?" They macked me. "Sure you are... And I'm the fearsome Levi Ackerman!" He put his hands on his hips and straightened his back. His friends burst out laughing. That was it... They could mack me all they wanted, but I would not let them talk about Levi!

I punched the idiot sodier in the jaw so hard he flew back. "Hey, you! We didn't have to arrest you just for being crazy, but this will cost you!" His friends charget at me. I brought them all down and when they finally took me seriously, I spoke again. "Now do you believe who I am?" They looked at each other. "Well, that doesn't matter. What matters is that you evacuate the city, while there's still time left!"

After going from door to door and warning every citizen we could, we successfully evacuated 40% of the population of the city. The rest however didn't believe us. They claimed we were mad, or that we just wanted to make them leave, so we could steal their homes. Because of that many boats left half empty.

We couldn't force them to leave. That was their choice to make.

We were ready to leave, when word reached us that the two districts left were already attacked. Afterwards the people, who had just the day before shouted at us and called our warnings madness, begged us to help.

The evacuation boats returned after five days. The gate of the city was shut, so the titans couldn't get in.
It took us one day to get every citizen on the life boats. We had to throw away a lot of personal belongings they had with them in order to fit everyone on board. When all got on I could see tears of happiness and families hugged together and that helped me fill the hole Shiganshina had left in my heart. Many people had stopped to thank us, before getting on board, others just said it was what we were paid for and that at last we were useful.

The boats sailed and I felt a hand on my shoulder. "You did well." Said Hannes. I shook my head. "I could have never done it without all of you. Thank you, for helping me save thoes people!" Levi stepped forward and Hannes put his hand off my shoulder. "We need to go behind Wall Rose as well. Did you think about that?" Levi looked at me.

"I did. We don't have choice but to ride." Levi stared in the distance. "Wall Maria is Titan's theretory now, how do you plan on getting us alive all the way to Trost?" "I can't promise we'll all make it there alive." I looked at the others, they looked scared out of their minds. "Tch, you sounded just like Erwin."

I realised he was right. 'So that's the feeling of leading people to almost certain death. That's the burden Erwin carries.' But still I needed to give them some hope. "It's too late to give up! If we are fast enough we should be able to get to Trost for a week. We lasted longer than that already. We can do it again!"

All but Levi nodded. "Now prepare yourselves we leave at sunset. The titans can't move at night." Everyone left, only Levi stayed with me. I got close to him and laid my chin on his shoulder. "I'll need you now more than ever." He hugged me. "I'll be right next to you, but I want you to promise me something." I lifted my head and looked him in the eyes. "If you have to choose between their lives and yours, don't hestitate. Save yourself." I shook my head. "You know I can't do that." "Yes, you can. We did enough for the others already. It's time to think about us." I felt a thousand butterflies fly in my stomach. "Us..."
