Last chapter was really short, but I don't like flashbacks so I thought that the story will be somewhat better with a short prologe.
It's been three years now since I left home. I still remmember crying back then as my adrenaline wore off and let the hesetation and sadness that I was surpressing for so long flow free. That was the first time I had cried so much, and I haven't shed a tear ever since. I wasn't holding back, I just knew that this was my path and I would gladly choose it as many time as necessary.
It was the night of my gratuation. I ranked first on all of the exams, but everyone already knew I wasn't joining the Military police. "Hey, (Y/n)! " one of the few friends I made during my training greeted me as she sat down for our last diner. "You look well, Alice. Did you fall off a clief or someting?" I said smiling at her. "Very funny, no actually. If you must know i simply tripped over my feet and fell down" she looked at me seriosly then we both burst out laughing. It was surprising how good with 3dm gear could someone as clumsy as she was be. "I might wanna clean that uniform a bit before the ceremony..." I smiled again. "Don't bother. Everyone already thinks we are crazy choosing the scouts over the Miletary police. What differents do a branch or two in the hair make." Alice turned bright red and ran her hand through her hair trying to locate the branches. I just laughed an helped her.
How I imagine Alice. Basically fimale Armin
The ceremony caused a wave of electricity to run through my body. All the cadets standing in front of Commander Erwin Smith of the Scouts regiment. His speach was teriffing and I admire him for that. "Those who do not wish to join us are free to go." I watched as most of my class left, leaving only Alice, me and a few others. The first one I recognized was Hanji Zoe. "Cadets, you have my utmost respect for staying! Now follow me!" Erwin said. Alice looked so exited I could see sparcels in her eyes. I wondered if I looked like that as well.
As we followed Commader Erwin a tall figure jumped out of nowhere and shook my hand. "I'm Hanji nice to meet you." She had such a charming smile. "I know. Who can forget our number one crazy scientist." She blushed. "I'm (Y/n)." She was much taller than me so she had to bend a bit to face me directly. I guess I was just cursed to be surounded by gaints my entire life.
Hanji continued to talk, while we changed in our new uniforms. "I've always wanted to join the scouts, to explore the outside world and the titans. Mainly the titans actually. What about you two? " Alice pulled up her socks and answered calmly. "For revenge. The titans wiped out my family, thought I would return the favour." "Oh." That was all Hanji said and that was the first of many occations I couldn't help, but wonder what was going though her mind...
"Cadets!" Some unknown to me female captain shouted. "You are taking forever, hurry up!" Both Hanji and I were ready, which left Alice, who was struggeling with her straps. We sighed and started helping her.
At dinner there was an extra tabel for all new cadets, until they were separeted into squads. I looked around the tabel. I knew most of them, but only by names. I've been with this people for three years and I didn't know the first thing about them. How could I expect people to trust me on the batelfield if was so self absorbed and asocial?
I gathered all my courage and said "So... you guys joined too. I bet we will be a good team if we made it through Shadis' training." Most of them looked shoked that I spoke to them. But one... well guess i should have known. "So typical of you, (Y/n). Now that you've already beaten us all, acting like one of us."
Ace Armstrong aka my self proclaimed life long enemy. "How does it feel to step on others to get to the top, First? " He smirked while using the name he had given me. I used to wonder why would he ever think that this would offend me. Then one day I heard him explaining to some boys that it meant "first to be eaten".
"Guess you wouldn't know since you're always in the bottom." The moment I said that I knew he had won. I'm such an idiot! He wanted me to say that. Ace knew I would react impulsivly and that was just what I did. Most of the cadets on the tabel really were bottom of the class. 'Good luck getting close to them now, (y/n)' I thought and stood up, walking away.
I might be able to beat Ace in everything else, but he would always best me when it comes to people. Hanji rose to go after me, but Alice stopped her. She knew that I just needed to be alone for a moment.
I walked out of the mess hall, not really knowing where to go to, when I was stopped by a familier voice. "Cadet (L/n), where are you going?" I was in shock. Comannder Erwin knew my name! "Nowhere, sir." I saluted. He looked at me for a second trying to read me, or perhaps not... He was looking right past me.
Sniff sniff sniff sniff. I looked behind me to find a very tall male with a mustasch and a dark blond brownish hair. I looked at the comannder for help, but he just smiled. "Don't worry. That's Mike. That's just his way of meeting new people." The so called Mike looked up at Erwin and noded. Erwin smiled again and looked at me. "Cadet, I have a mission for you." I jumped up three meters in the air or at least I would have if it weren't for the my childhood heros and superiors in front of me.
"(Y/n), I want you to come to the undergrounds with me and my spacial squad to capture an underground thug called Levi Ackerman." And there goes my enthusiasm.
