~5 years later~

The gates opened and what remained of the Scouts regiment after the 55th expedition beyond the walls entered Shiganshina. The bells were ringing and as always people gathered on both sides of the street to watch our return. It had been five years since my first expedition. I looked around for the emeral eyed boy as I usual. He was with his friend with the red scarf, but the blond kid was nowhere to be found. He raised his hand and waved at me.

I looked at my squad behind me. We had lost two comrades in this expedition.

Ahead of us an old woman stepped in front of one of the horses and asked for her son. I felt bad for the squad leader who had to tell her about her son's death. But I was about to face the same.

A man stepped in front of my horse and I got off. "Where's my daughter?" I nodded towards Alice, who was on my squad. She got off her horse and brought the remains of the man's child. I handed them to him, as aways not making any skin contact. The man's eyes filled with tears. "What!? Why..." He looked at me for an answer. "It was my fault. I couldn't protect your daughter." He got angry and pushed his daughter's remains in the hands of his sobbing wife, then grabbed me by the front of my uniform. "She didn't have to die!" I freed myself. I had gotten used to that kind of treatment, but I wouldn't let my squad members see me doubt the value of their comrades' death.

Someone stepped behind the man and restrained him. "Let go of me!" The man shouted. "Thank you, father." I nodded at my dad and got on my horse again. The man stopped struggeling he looked shocked. "(Y/n) is that you?" He asked looking at me. "I'm sorry for your lost, Mr. Jackson." Then I continued after the rest of the scouts.

Soon Levi and Hanji caught up to me. Levi and I were the center of all kinds of stories about previous expeditions and were both Lance Corporals. His squad was called 'The special operation squad', the only one, which could rival my own one's strength. For the past five years Hanji had achived a very high rank as well, but she never really cared as long as she could do her research. She was a squad leader as well, but many feared to work under her, because of her titan obsession.

In the crowd a lot of people greeted Levi. "They wouldn't admire you so much if they knew what a clean freak you were." I laughed a bit. "Shut up, shitty glasses." It was always the same with thoes two.

We arrived late that night and I, Levi and Hanji had to attend the meeting of the squad leaders so we could discuss the expedition. By the time everyone had finished with their reports it was already early in the morning. "Ok, good job everyone. Go get some rest now." I rose up from my seat and went to speak to Erwin. "What is it, (Y/n)?" he asked.

"I want to have two weeks break to go and see my family." "You have me permission." He agreed, but I wasn't finished quite yet. "Can my squad take a break as well?" I asked. That would take some arguing for him to agree with. Or so I thought. "They get two weeks as well, but not a day longer. Understood?" "Thank you, Erwin." I hadn't had a break during my whole service in the Survey Corps so it wasn't a surprise that Erwin let me have two weeks, but my squad's break was quite the achievement, so I went to tell them.

It was about three in the morning when I got to my room, but someone was already waiting in front of it. "Levi, I'm tired. You can tell me reckless I've been in this expedition tomorrow..." I yawned. "Do you really think I would let you travel alone?" I looked at him in disbelief. "You can't come. I haven't seen my family in ages, I don't want you butting in." "I don't care. Don't you remmember? We are stuck together. Do you have a damn idea how much shit can happen in two weeks... (Y/n)? Oi, brat!" I opened my eyes. "Lets just talk ~~yawn~~ tomorrow..." I lay my head on his shoulder. It was so comfortble....
