The hours went by and Levi was still keeping his hands around my waist, I couldn't deny the natural attraction I had for him, but that was about it. I've always imagined myself ending up with a fellow member of the Scout's regiment, probably someone sweet and caring to contrast my reserved personality. And Levi didn't stricke me as that kind of guy.
"Hey, Ace, are we there yet? I'm sore of all this riding." Isabel asked. I smirked at the double meaning of that remark. Ace glared at her. Once again I wondered what was his problem. Or not. I guess that was just the way he was.
We arrived after about five minutes or so and Levi jumped off the horse. I felt almost bad, when I couldn't feel his warmth around me anymore.
"After dinner you'll be shown to your new rooms." Erwin told Levi, Isabel and Farlan. Rooms? Didn't he mean cells? "I volunteer to take this night's watch in the dungeons, sir." I said, saluting. "There will be no need for that, since we don't currently have any prisioners, but I apreciate your enthusiasm. Which reminds me, Ace, (Y/n), congratulations on your first sucsessful mission! You two will be joining Captain Blake's squad."
Good, I hoped that he would say that. Captain Blake was a friend of my father, but he was younger than him and had a lot of time until he retired.
I walked in the mess hall to sit one last time on the Cadets' tabel. Tomorrow they would be separeted in squads as well and would sit with their new squadmates. The table would be gone and with it my last connection to these people.
I was getting kind of sad, because I didn't get to make great life-long memories with the others like my dad had during his training.
"(Y/n)!" I heard someone yell, then Hanji hugged me from behind almost crashing my bones. "Ha-n.." "You're going to kill her, idiot!" Alice stepped in taking me away from Hanji's hold. "I was just showing affection, Alice." I smile at both of them and we sat down to eat.
I hadn't even started eating yet, when I saw them. Three figures standing on the opposite side of the mess hall. Even now wearing their new uniforms they looked so out of place. I took a deep breath and walked up to them. Farlan and Isabel looked like I was the last being they wanted to have to deal with and Levi... well he couldn't care less that I'd showed up.
"We haven't recived any orders, concerning where you should sit but..." Isabel glared at me. I sighed. "Ok, look, come with me and sit on the Cadets' tabel. I will go and find food for you. Just don't say where you come from." I said in one breath.
Farlan and Isabel looked up at Levi for approval and so did I. No use. This guy literary had two expressions: angry glare and annoyed glare. He was almost unreadable. For now.
I turned on my heels and walked away. I'd made my offer. If they are hungry enough they would follow me. And they did, so I made good on my promise and got some extra food for them. When I returned Isabel and Hanji were already speaking about something, Hanji waving her hands in the air, explaining something as usual. I looked at Alice. She was having a much quieter and more serious conversation with Farlan, but from the small smile on her lips I could tell she was enjoying herself.
And then there was Levi. He was listening to Alice and Farlan's conversation like it was the most boring thing in the world. I placed the food in front each of the three and sat down. "Thanks." Isabel smiled at me. She had such beautiful emerald eyes full of life and joy, I wondered how she'd managed to keep them so full of hope during all those years underground. Years after that I would meet another teen with the same eyes called Eren Jeager, but it was way too early for me to know that yet.
After dinner I went to my room to wash myself and change, when my curiosity wispered to me 'You wonder what the three of them are doing, aren't ya'. I walked out of my room and went to the floor, where I knew the three newcommers' rooms were. It was already quite late and all rooms were locked except one. As a matter of fact, it was not only unlocked, but the door was wide open, as if someone had kicked it open. I knew there was a small balcony on that floor so I desided to check there. Perhaps someone was taking a night walk or something.
I was on my way, when someone
... attacked me? I quickly set myself free from the one who had grabed me and turned around. "Ace?! What are you doing?" He smiled at me. Did he try to hug me? I looked at him and the next thing I know I was pinned against the wall. "Hey, (Y/n). I was looking for you." from so close I could smell it. Alcohol. "You know... I've been meaning to apologise to you." Was he hitting on me? 'Ok, he is drunk and lonely, don't take him seriously. Just convince him to go away.' I thought. "You know why I always call you first?" He smiled at me sheepishly. "Because I want you to be my first. I love you, (Y/n)." What?! "Y-you what?!" I shuttered. He smiled at me again, it was a sincere smile as well. Then he started leaning in... And I totally panicked. I hit him on the neck and knocked him out cold.I take it all back! I'd rather him being a jerk! Please let him be a jerk again! I looked at him. He was laying on the floor with a happy grin like a three year old. What should I do?! I can't leave him like that... But I don't have the slightest idea where his room might be. Then it hit me. That room at the end of the corridor, that I had seen earlier, the one with the open door. I bet it was his room. Only someone as drunk as he was could have left his door like that.
I lifted him and carried him there. I laid him down and removed his boots, before I left silently. I felt a terrible guilt for what I'd done. I could have just said 'no' and he would have gone away. He wasn't forcing himself onto me and he was as vulnarable as a child. But no... I had to knock him out! The worst part was what he had said. That was the first time someone had confessed to me and I didn't know how to react, but after I had calmed down I knew my answer. No. In the morning if he remmembered anything I would tell him that I respect him, but I don't share his feelings. I shouldn't mislead him. And if he didn't remmember (hopefully) I would leave it at that.
I took a deep breath. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep tonight, so I might as well go and check that balcony out. I walked past Ace's room, then past thoes of Furlan and Isabel. I slowed down, while passing them and I heard light snoring. I smiled a bit. Just few meters from there there was a big glass door. I opened it, but as it turned out Ace wasn't the only one out of bet tonight.
On a chair, with his arms crossed on his chest and one leg over the other, the one, who would be latter called 'Humanity's strongest soldier' was sleeping soundly. The full moon shinning onto his face.
I didn't realise that he was asleep at first, when I approached him. And when I did realise, I was more than shocked. Was he sleeping in a chair outside in the middle of November?! Was he nutts?! I rushed back to Ace's room to grab a blanket.
When I returned I slowly placed it onto him, doing my best not to wake him up. When I was done I stepped back. He looked so handsome like that, his usually tense face was now calm and his crossed arms looked so funny as if he was trying to say 'what are y..'
"What are you looking at, brat?"
