Vedenemo's POV

"Vedenemo, your behavior is absolutely deplorable!" Delphin complained. Circling me around the ballroom, he told me about how the Duke and Duchess of Lemuria didn't appreciate me telling off their only son, how the squid sushi was eventually going to catch up with my body, blah, blah, blah...

"Pay attention!" I snapped out of my daydream and looked Delphin straight in the eye. His hair, which was chocolate brown, was always styled with bangs slicked above his face in a "quiff", as all the teenage girls called it. They were always chasing after him and his gayness, which was just more motivation for them to try to woo him.

"Do you even know what he said to me? It's obvious that your 'conclusions' lack understanding of the entire incident."

"Well," he tapped his finger in the palm of his hand, "I can see that our speech and vocabulary lessons are going fine" I danced in my head, "but," I clenched my fists for what was to come, "your manners could use more work than Mr. Dude's. You completely forgot to give him a chance, and you insulted his entire family."

"He basically said I wasn't like other girls!"

"Exactly! That's what you want! You want to be unique, but you also must be kind. Use those skills to your advantage. Now, correct your posture!"

I sighed as my back became a stiff board.

"Princess Vedenemo?" Daddy's assistant, Veles, opened the larged, pearled double doors with a bang.

"Yes?" Delphin clasped his hands together and checked his own posture.

"Vedenemo's father would like to have a word with her, please."

Anuket's POV

I combed through my thin, blonde hair and added kelp oil to my tail to keep the scales glistening. I glided on my new top with white ruffles to compliment my tail colors. I added silver bangle bracelets, tiny diamond studs, and its matching necklace to the ensemble. Finally, I swiped a pop of pink lipgloss onto my pout. I was ready for school!

I grabbed a nutrition bar (you have to watch your weight!) from the cupboard and pecked mom (my exact copy) on the cheek.

"Wait!" She cried out. "I want to get a picture of you on your first day!"

I sighed yet smiled. "Fine, just one." I posed with a peace sign by my face, and hugged Mom goodbye while opening the wrapper of my Breakfast Bar.

When I arrived at school, I took in the scene. Before the bell rang, I spotted an increase in people with headphones in, less than half of the students carried a backpack (wise choice; totes are totes in), and twelve had gotten their Emblems. I awaited the day until I got mine, but alas, I must prove myself by doing more than polishing jewels.

The shrill bell rang, signaling us to homeroom. In Biology, I sat in my seat, which was thankfully right next to my best friend, Junturna.

"Omg! How was your summer?" She gathered me in a tight embrace.

"I was polishing jewels! Must I say more?"

"Of course! It had to be fabulous!"

"Of course!" We did our secret handshake that we had since we were three; we reached our hands toward each others', and we wiggled our fingers at the others'. We're original.

"Okay, class." Mr. Sobek called the class to his attention. Well, he attempted. "Please gather your text books from the front. They each have your name on them."

We continued our "teenage gossip". It was the first day of school! What did they expect?

Suddenly, we heard a screech and a buzz (thanks to the subpar technology at our school), and a voice finally came into the class.

"Mr. Sobek? Biology room 352?"

"Yes? What do you need?" He barked. We all jumped back in surprise; his voice was like a tsunami crashing onto shore.

"We need Ms. Anuket to the front, please." My face turned red.

What did you do? Junturna mouthed to me.

I have no clue! I messaged back. What if I did do something? What if something happened to Mom? My breathing sped up. Why woud it be on the first day of school?

"Will she be returning?" Mr. Sobek groweled.

"No, she will not be. These are King Ahti's orders."

Everyone gasped at that.

Junturna waved her hand around her upper arm, where the Emblems are typically put. I sucked in a gill-full of water. Could this be my mission?

Mr. Sobek quickly motioned for me to pack up my things, which I did, and I swam out as fast as I could.

When I reached the front office, one of the Nymphs cocked her eyebrow at me.

"Who are you?" She asked cooly.

"A-a-anuket." I stammered.

"Ah." Her face softened a bit. "They're waiting outside for you."

I walked out of the school to see a golden and pearled chariot being pulled by dolphins...with another girl in it.

Nanshe's POV

I swept my overgrown, black bangs to the side and put on my oversized glasses. I threw on my studded black belt on my tail, and shrugged my black cardigan over my black camisole. I clasped an owl necklace around my neck, but I took off the owl jewel. I put it in a hobo bag with panels from my favorite comic book, X-Men, on it. Except I turned it inside-out (it was reversable) to the red side. I finally smothered my lips in matte, pure red lipstick. I tossed my headphones and conch shell into my bag. I was all set.

I swam out my secret entrance from my closet and powered through the current to get to school.

When I did spot the dreaded jailhouse, I glided (unnoticed) into the bathroom stalls. I reversed my bag, put on my pendant, took off my cami and replaced it with a shirt proclaiming "99.9% OF MY BRAIN IS SONG LYRICS" amongst a white surface in black letters, and dug out my waterproof, green, iPod shuffle from my conch. I plugged my headphones into it, put it in my bag, and stroked to class with William Beckett, Panic! At The Disco, My Chemical Romance, and Beck streaming into my ears.

I was suddenly stopped by a prissy hall monitor in a sweater dress. "Nanshe?"

"Prep?" I answered.

"Look, emo bitch, I'm just trying to do my job. Don't forget, my father is the mayor. I can get you fired."

"You were saying?" I rolled my eyes and studied my matallic blue nails.

"You're needed at the front. Now."

I flicked a bit of air in her face and left for the office. The Nymph stared at me cold and hard.

"Nanshe?"

"What?" I hated office people.

"Outside. The King needs to see you for a very important meeting." She gave me a sinister smile as I gaped at the golden and pearled chariot awaiting me. I climbed in, turned up my music, and tried to blend, but that's hard for a girl like me in a royal...anything.

I got through the entire Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World soundtrack before a girl who I've seen wearing dresses to school (who wears a dress to school?) swam towards the chariot. Who was she? What were we doing?

A/N

If you know me, you can probably tell that Vedenemo, Nanshe, and Anuket all represent the differnent parts and sides to me. Vedenemo is the part of me that is clueless when it comes to romance and hates having to lead a group, Nanshe is the part of me that hates the world around her, but loves music and wants to get away, and Anuket is the girly part of me that loves fashion, makeup, and skin/hair care. Please read, vote, follow, all that good crap. :)
