Beyond the Sunset

~Chapter Six~

Vedenemo's POV

I jolted awake on the smooth floor of my room with Nanshe softly snoring next to me. The bells were ringing, and I suddenly remembered what day it was. We had to go to the Forbidden Unknown.

Nanshe' POV

I sat up on a squishy, soft bed. Today was the day.

Anuket's POV

"Honey? They want you at the palace early to get you ready for you mission." Mom's voice carried into my room as I placed my pillow over my head. I can't leave. My thoughts controlled my head.

Nanshe's POV

"Nanshe? Princess?" A guard knocked on the door. "We must get to the spa room. They want to prepare you for your mission." I put my glasses on my face and opened the room up. Ved sat up and swam out without second thought.

Anuket's POV

As I swam into the palace, Mom embraced me in one last goodbye. I heard mournful noises coming from her as she said "I love you."

"I love you, too." I pulled away from her and waved goodbye before the guards shut the doors. There was no turning back. This is it.

Vedenemo's POV

As we arrived in the spa room, I noticed Nanshe gazing at the makeup, treatments, and workers in wonder. "Over here." Veles motioned his hand to the facial area. Soon, we heard another mermaid enter.

Anuket's POV

"Oh. My. Royals." I looked around at all the equipment and machinery. Is all this for me? As I looked around the room, and hand caught my eye. Another guard waved for me to meet him near where Veddy and Nanshe were.

Nanshe's POV

Guess she's not backing out, huh?

Vedenemo's POV

We were sat down by the workers and were given face masks made out of seaweed. While that soaked in, we were given massages to "help release the muscles before the transformation", as Delphin put it. Soon, we soaked our nails in kelp oils.

Nanshe's POV

My nails quickly restored their striking blue color that matched my tail.

Anuket's POV

The dullness of my nails became the same icy blue as my tail.

Vedenemo's POV

My dual-chrome sea foam green and teal nails became shinier than the day before; I was required to do this everyday.

We then had our hair hydrated to the max and styled.

Nanshe's POV

"And how would you like your hair?" A stylist asked.

"Straight with side swept bangs and layers."

Anuket's POV

"What style would you like?"

"May I have a topknot, please? Thank you!"

Vedenemo's POV

"What hairstyle, Veddy?"

My stylist, Fontus, was the only person I trusted with my thick, bouncy, light brown hair.

"I think just some natural curls, please."

While our hair was being pulled and tugged on, Delphin went over the procedure and what would happen. "So, the potion is made from extracting a scale, so there will be a little pain involved in that." I noticed everyone bite their lip. "You drink the potion, go to the surface and breathe in some air, and badabing, badaboom, you're human. We've also packed some clothes for you based on your respective personanlities. For Veddy,"

He handed me a bag with a teal, sleeveless dress with a criss-cross mesh bodice detail. There were also two silver contraptions with straps in the back, a criss-cross area with a hole at the front, and a lifted stick at the back. "Are these-"

"Yes, those are shoes, more commonly known as heels. You put them on your feet for protection, and they make your outfit look fabulous!"

Nanshe's POV

I was handed a sack with a Hot Topic shirt and a long, dark, denim skirt seperated into two parts. Skinny jeans. I'd always wanted skinny jeans. I also discovered new shirts (with more Marvel!) and a few black benies and fedoras. I finally pulled out more shoes for me, except they were more closed off, had no heel, had laces, and were, well, black. They reached all the way to where my fins became my tail. "Combat boots. They go to your ankle. Thought you would like."

Anuket's POV

"And for yo-ou!" Delphin sang as he handed me my pouch. I reached in and found a black crop top with little daisies all over it, another that was made of white lace, and a black and white geometric pattern. I got shorter and lighter jeans than Nanshe, and they had little pieces hanging where they were cut (cut-offs, he called them). They also reached WAY above where Nanshe's did with multiple buttons to add detail (high-waisted was the term). I also got a long, hot pink, flowy maxi skirt and silver shoes that Delphin called "sandals".

Vedenemo's POV

"Now for your human names. Names like what we have are not common in the human world, so we need to pick out new names for you. Veddy?"

"Adrielle," I said completely out of the blue.

"Okay, then." Delphin made a face and scribbled something down on a sheet of parchment.

Nanshe's POV

"And for you?" Delphin raised his head.

"Jace."

"Jace. Okay." He wrote away.

Anuket's POV

"I like Chelsea." My name was chosen.

"Alright, Chelsea." He made a final note on the paper.

Vedenemo's POV

"Well, this is it. It's time." Delphin gave us all a tender hug as we inspected ourselves one last time, grabbed our clothes, and made our way to the Grand Hall. "One last thing." He stopped us in our tracks. "Meet a woman with highlighted dirty blonde hair, green eyes, and tan skin at the dock. Tell her that the sea has awoken, and do exactly as she tells you. Do you understand?" We all gulped and nodded. "Goodbye."

The doors slammed shut, and we were left alone in the Grand Hall with nobody but Daddy.

Everyone's POV

It's time.
