How To Fall In Love // SetoSolace
It started out when they were kids.
Well, more specifically, when Brice was a kid.
Moving from Australia to America in the middle of sixth grade was a lot to handle. Everything was different: the weather, the education system, the people. It was overwhelming to the twelve year old, especially since he wouldn't know anyone, either.
He placed a lot of faith into his teachers, mainly because adults seemed to be the wiser ones, but of course, that faith was shattered when he was expected to have knowledge of what was going on by his second day. He hadn't even bought his school supplies yet, and there he was, sitting in the ISS room for not having a fucking notebook for math class. It's unjustifiable, really.
"Aren't you that new kid?" A boy next to him interrupts the silence. Brice nods.
"Yeah. I just moved from Australia," Brice whispers, anxiously gazing over towards the teacher who seemed to be more focused on his laptop rather than the two boys conversing.
"How'd you already get into the ISS?" The other boy laughs.
"A teacher got really upset that I didn't bring my math notebook. It's literally my second day in school, fourth day in America that is. What does she expect?"
The kid laughs, "That sucks. My name's Zek by the way. Your accent is pretty cool."
"I'm Brice," the blond smiles, shaking his hand.

You could say Zek was a bad influence, in the sense that he pulled pranks more than he went to do his own laundry, but Brice didn't care. For the past five years, Zek has been a friend - a best friend. He loved the guy, platonically of course, and wouldn't want anyone less than him.
"Are you excited for homecoming?" Zek inquires, sitting down with his school lunch. He pokes at the mashed potatoes for a bit before eating.
"No," Brice shakes his head. "You ask me this every year."
"Well, it's our junior year. They say junior year is going to be the worst yet."
Brice raises an eyebrow, "And who is this 'they' you speak of?"
"Zach," Zek comments. "And Adam."
"Whatever," Brice huffs stubbornly. "It's not like I'm actually going to attend. It's the same boring bullshit every year - I'd rather stay home and draw."
"Why don't you ask someone out?" Zek suggests, grinning. "You have the hots for Seto."
Brice nearly chokes on his sandwich, "He's not gay."
"He dated Ty last year."
"The dude turned him straight."
Brice rolls his eyes, "As if I had the confidence to ask him out. Hell, he doesn't even know I exist."
"I have a plan," Zek blurts out. "It's a three step plan to make him fall in love with you."
"I don't want to hear it, John."
Zek hisses, "It's Zek, god dammit."
"John Morin."
"Whatever, you're going to grow up to be a crazy cat lady who's alone, anyway."
"...Let me hear your plan."

"Are you sure this is the right approach?" Brice questions, wiping his sweaty palms against his jeans. The brunet was in sight, fiddling with his lock.
"Hell yeah! Girls love secret admirers!" Zek grins giddily.
"But Seto is a boy-"
"Look, he opened his locker!"
The two hushed. A pink note comes flying out of the locker, to which Seto bends down and picks it up. He reads it for a short time, blinking, then crumpled it, shoving it back into his locker. Brice feels crushed.
"Maybe Love letters aren't the first, best approach..." Zek shakes his head.
