Ty sighed, cracking his knuckles as he stood over the rooftop. It was noisy, the battle would commence soon. He touched his bandages over his face for a brief moment, his entire face was covered besides his right eye—his ghoul eye. His left eye was covered with his messy fringe, it was the only "human" part of him that was left.
"Are you really going down there?" A voice behind him asked. He turned around and faced Adam.
"Yeah, I am." Ty nodded in confirmation. Adam held his comedy mask tightly in his hand as he placed it over his face.
"It doesn't have to be this way, we can run." Adam replied, shoving his hand into his pockets. The wind picked up.
"Everyone else is at their stations, Mitch is down there too. You know how Mitch is—he's the one everyone's after, the infamous Owl."
All Adam could do was nod. He could imagine the frown in Adam's face deepening, "And—that CCG that nearly killed all of us while you were gone is down there too."
"The one with the purple scythe?" Ty perked up.
"Yeah, him." Adam nodded in agreement. "His name is Seto, I think. He's partnered with the young senior investigator, Brice."
Ty bit his lip, giving an exasperated sigh. "I regret sparing him."
"Do..." Adam began, looking up at the snow that was drifting down from the sky, "...do you ever regret becoming a ghoul?"
"It wasn't like I had any choice."
"That's not what I mean," Adam replied, sternly. "Do you regret meeting me? Meeting us?"
"As much as I wished for my human life back," Ty began, "that night where I met Dawn—"
Adam awkwardly scoffed drawing Ty's attention. The half-ghoul frowned, "Sorry for mentioning her. Though I miss Jason, I think he's better off not knowing what happened to me."
"Jason was one of your close human friends, correct?"
"Yeah, he was. Don't think I regret meeting you, Adam—I don't regret it."
The two made brief eye contact for a moment.
"Shall we go?" Adam asked, reaching out his hand. Ty nodded, taking it.
"Let's go."
The two smiled, then jumped down into the chaotic warfare ahead of them.
