There once was a girl
Called Me
Who was confident and popular
And stood in the light.
She had a shadow
Named Her
Who hasn't yet mustered up
The qualities Me had
But then once high school
Came about
Her pushed Me out of the lead
And took over
As Me discovered more about herself
Which Her made fun of
Forcing Me to disappear into the shadows
And instead of the confident, popular girl
Me swapped places with Her
To become quiet, unsure, mocked
Except Her pushed and pushed Me
Further into the corners
Further into the background
Further into the shadows
Until
Me became
The shadow.
