4. What You'll Never Get

You'll never get the past me;

The one who got in trouble at school for reading too much;
The one who used to reply "Water is Healthy" to everything when it was her life motto;
The one who had blue paint on her bedroom walls;
The one who had chubby cheeks;
The one who couldn't stand being teased;
The one who slept on the right side of the bed;
The one whose laugh used to sound like a witch's cackle if she laughed too hard;
The one who had no scars;
The one who spent her youthful years in love with one boy.

You never knew her.
You never will get to know her.
You will never know her.

You will never get to learn that she isn't capable of loving you as much as she loved him but she will try.

You will never learn why she cried that time in primary school.

You will never know why she gets defensive suddenly when the mood seems light.

You just won't ever get her.
Never
Ever.

However

You will get the present me;

The one who stands up for herself;
The one who calls out males for sexist comments;
The one who eats too much chocolate;
The one who can't help herself from harmonizing with the song playing;
The one who would much rather spend her days reading and in a fictional world but at the same time wants to go and live her own life;
The one who knows the lyrics to every song;
The one who remembers dreams from 10 years ago;
The one who doesn't drink all day then gulps down a whole bottle;
The one can't stand plainness and needs colour to live;
The one who loves you.

You get her.
You have her.

And maybe you will get the future me.
Who knows.

But, I'm telling you now, as a warning, that never will you ever get one thing:

You'll never get the past me.

I think this could be my longest poem. 330 words. Wow. Usually my poems are like 10 words lol.
