Chapter 16

Lin's POV

I get home a few minutes after 10 since I had to pick up Sebastian from my parents. Usually Vanessa would do this and they would both more than likely be asleep by now, but when I walk in it's too quiet in the apartment. After I get Sebby ready for bed I check for Vanessa in every room and can't find her. When I walk into the kitchen I find a note from V.

Lin,
I'm sorry. I'm not home because I'm probably on a plane right now. I'm headed to Houston for a new job. I will not be coming back for you or Sebastian. You should be getting divorce papers in a couple weeks. I'm so sorry Lin.

Houston? Just Sebby and I? A fucking divorce? God could this night get any worse. I ball up the note and throw it away. I walk past Sebby's room and see him fast asleep. What is he going to do without his mom? Every child needs their mom, but his is in Houston. I walk into my room and change into something more comfortable so I can try to sleep. I lay in the bed and stare at the ceiling until my phone rings. I check the clock: 12:36am. Damn who would be calling now? I don't make it to my phone in time, so it stops ringing. Once I reach the phone it goes off again. Who is it? I look at the name and see a name that I wouldn't expect at 12 in the morning: Pippa. I pick up the phone and answer it as soon as I can.

(L: Lin P: Pippa for phone convo)

L: Pippa? Are you okay? Why are you calling at 12am?
P: Lin!
L: Are you crying?
P: Yes. Lin can I come over?
L: Wait why?
P: Steven. He's cheating on me. I caught him with some girl. I would have called Nee but she is probably asleep and Daveed probably has his phone turned down. I completely understand if I can't. I'll just call Jazzy.
L: No! Come over. Now.
P: Thank you Lin.
L: No problem.
*Pippa hangs up*

Steven is cheating on the sweet and happy Pippa that everyone knows and loves. She's perfect in every way and he goes out and hurts her like this! What an idiot! If you look up the word dumbass in the dictionary you might find a picture of Steven. I sit on the couch with my phone and wait for Pippa to show up. At 1:15 there is finally a knock on the door. I unlock the door, open it, and right in front of me is a crying Pippa with mascara running down her face. "Oh god! Pips." I pull her into my chest and engulf her into a huge hug. Oh shit. I forgot to put my shirt on.
