"Good Morning Lela!" Alicia squealed when she entered the large dining hall.
"Good Morning Alicia. Who else is here?" Lela asked.
"I am. Morning." Bo said with a hint of irritation in his voice.
Macha led her to a chair with no arms. "Alicia is to your left and Bo is to your right. If you choose to eat, there are Fea fruits and water in front of you. We understand if you choose not to do so, it won't offend anyone during the next two days. I'll take my leave unless you need anything else?"
Lela shook her head. She felt the rodent jump off her shoulder and heard it softly munch on something on the table.
"That's disgusting," Bo responded with a chuckle.
Lela gave a small snort. "Apparently, it's a shapeshifting dragon."
"Looks like a rat."
"So adorable then?" Lela responded with a smile.
"If you say so," Bo replied with some humor in his voice. Then his voice switched to a softer tone. "How did you sleep?"
"Good I guess," Lela responded. She sat silently for a moment, then continued. "You said last night that you had a plan?" She turned her head towards Alicia.
"Hmm" She gave a guttural noise in agreement. "I have spent the last year scouring the library here, which is amazing b-t-dubbs. I think the prince was trying to speak with one of the Mythwixip Oracles. They are said to have direct lineage with the oldest Fae and may have ancient magic and knowledge no one else does. I think he went not only to consult with them but also to try to figure out why cosmically the twins were wrong. There are also reports of magic going wonky before he left before the births and rumors of curses on the Lore Estate."
"How is he a prince and the old woman is just a Lady?" Bo asked.
"He was born of two humans which consummated their relationship here, which is a rarity. When he was born, the Fae Folk blessed him as King Guardian of the Fae. Though humans have been here through the years, it is not usual to come across one here. This land is both fantastic and horrifying. The beasts are afraid of humans because we are like the death reaper to them. However, they are curious and get great joy in being mischievous and tricking humans. Some creatures even thrive off of the energy that only humans give off when they are either in love or terrified to death. It can be similar to humans getting high. There used to be a thriving black market for humans and their parts. Though it has mostly disappeared, there are still rumors. One of the jobs of the Lore Estate is to investigate charges of human trafficking and stop it." Alicia responded.
"And you feel safe here?" Lela responded.
"Yes. My position offers me safety and power; therefore, the Fae are very respectful... mostly." Her voice drifted when she said the last word.
Lela found her hand playing with the tail of the rodent as she thought about the new information. "You want to go try to find the Oracle people?"
"Yes. I think we should try to figure out what is going on with the magic and see if we can find the Prince." Alicia told them. "I know it a lot, but... there are good people here."
"Why did you bring me here? I mean really and don't bring up some bullshit story about a crush." Lela said finally. "I practically fawned over you for five years and you kept me in the friend zone. I don't see how I can help you." Lela shifted in her seat. The creature must have sensed her discomfort and nuzzled her head in Lela's hand. She pet the creature just under its jawline to which it gave a small purr growl in return.
