Introduction

My eyes flickered open slowly, like a butterflies wings delicately moving, innocently. Our eyes locked for a moment. I wondered how long he had been watching me. He stayed silent but his eyes where searching me. I think he wanted me to speak first. I didn't. I moved the duvet off myself and stood up away from the bed, stretching before rubbing my sore eyes and opening the curtain allowing light to flood into the room.

My hands were smudged black, groaning I made my way to the bathroom. Panda eyes. Just what I thought. I ripped out a makeup remover pad and swiped it over my face harshly. Once I was done I brushed my teeth and properly washed my face before returning to the light bedroom. He'd already left, just a small dent in the mattress from where he had slept previously and a yellow sticky note to prove he once was there. I approached the bed again and read the note.

'Come downstairs xxx'

How creative, I thought to myself. Times like this I missed my mum. I grimaced at the past being thrown into my face. The morning light from the window flashed on me forcing the tears to burst out of my eyes. Two, light taps on the wooden door before it was pushed open. I heard him come closer behind me before tightly wrapping his arms behind me.

"What's wrong?" He asked, immediately noticing I had been crying.

"You know what's wrong." I wormed my way out from his grasp so I could face him properly. He sighed, it was obviously hurting him too.

"I'll be back before you know it." He said convincing himself mostly as he pushed a stray strand of loose hair out of my eyes.

"Six months is a long time, Jayden." He came into hug me but I shrugged him off.

"Bye." He whispered whilst moving his face closer to mine, pressing his lips onto mine.

I stayed silent as I watched him through the window loading his things into his car before giving me one last wave, I smiled weakly whilst he put his thumb to his ear and his little finger to his lips signal for: 'I'll call you when I get there', I nodded before he closed his car door and zoomed off, his grey car matched my mood.

"Love you." I whispered, as the unexpected rumble of thunder shook the sky and allowing the sky to cry with me.
