[14] Pretending?

Everyone threw rice towards Reese and Damon and watched them drive away in the limousine. After saying a long goodbye to family and friends, Liam, Reagan, Corey and Raye hopped in the car and headed back towards Orlando. Raye was going home with Corey to get his belongings and then they were scheduled to be on a private plane back to LA Sunday morning.

Liam was driving while Corey sat in the passenger seat. The girls were cuddled in the back seat lightly snoring. Liam noticed how quiet Corey was being. He hadn't said a word since they left Miami.

"What's on your mind?"

Corey took a deep and turned to make sure the girls were sleeping. Raye was lying against Reagan back with her eyes closed. "My wife."

It was the first time Liam had heard Corey refer to Raye as his wife. It was an odd thing to hear. "What about her?"

"I didn't want it to happen like this Liam. Over the years I pictured being with Raye and loving her again but not this way. It feels wrong."

"It is a crazy situation. I expected Raye to want a divorce," Liam added.

"Me too," Corey agreed. He would have never thought that Raye would want to stay married.

Liam switched lanes on the interstate and continued to drive towards Orlando. They still had an hour left before they would make it home. "What in the hell happened in Vegas?"

Corey sighed. He wished he knew. "Fuck Liam I told you already that I don't know," he replied harshly. "I remember drinking and then waking up to you banging on the door. I don't remember leaving the hotel room or going down to the chapel." He twisted the wedding band on his finger. "When in the hell did we buy rings?" he questioned.

"That's a good question," Liam said with a chuckle. "You know I was always hoping that things would smooth over with you and Raye but I would have never imagined this happening. I think you should take advantage of the situation."

"Naw I don't want it to happen that way. I liked how things were progressing in Vegas. We were building a friendship and she was starting to trust me again. If Raye ever gave me another chance I want her to be 100% sure about it. I don't want her to want me out of obligation or because of a fake marriage."

"Then why agree?"

Corey looked over his shoulder at Raye again. He considered her his whole world and he would do anything for her. He wished there was a restart button he could push so they could start over. At one point he felt like things were getting better in Vegas and then he made a mess of it. He should've told Raye not to drink. He focused back and the road and exhale noisily. "Because I love her and I'll do anything she wants me too."

Raye was in the back seat pretending to be sleeping. She was listening to everything being said between Corey and Liam.

Raye walked around Corey's apartment and examined the contents. It was an obvious bachelor pad. She never got the chance to see his room when they were younger and the one time she visited him in school was a disaster. This was the first time she actually got the chance to see how he lived. He wasn't a complete slob but he wasn't the neatest person either.

Liam and Reagan dropped them off about 10 minutes ago and headed to their own apartment. Raye was sad to see Reagan go because she wasn't sure the next time she was going to see her sister. Telephone conversations and skype would have to do for now.

"How many bedrooms do you have?" she asked as she walked to the window in the living room and observed downtown Orlando. It wasn't a huge city but she still enjoyed the view.
