[15] I Lied
The following days Raye's schedule was packed again with interviews, photo shoots and rehearsals. The big difference this time is that everyone wanted Corey to be involved. He sat in on all the interviews and even took professional photos with Raye. Her publicist tried to get Corey to audition for a movie but he respectfully declined. Even though
he was comfortable doing the interviews, he couldn't fathom becoming an actor.
Reporters thought it was adorable how they met as teens and rekindled their romance as adults. No one really brought up the subject of Sebastian. If they did, Raye just informed them that she and Sebastian were just good friends.
She and Corey were scheduled to appear on the major networks throughout the week. Heather Croswell requested an interview but Raye refused to do it. She informed her manager that if she booked the show, she was going to be looking for a new job and her manager never brought up the subject again.
All of the hype came from the interview with E News. It got top ratings because the duo was on camera together and the other networks wanted the same success.
Her sisters saw the show as well and had a lot to say. Raye was glad that she was busy and didn't have a lot of time to talk to them. They wanted to know what was going on between her and Corey but she was still trying to figure it out herself.
Corey had to return to Orlando on Monday and Raye was traveling back with him. She would work on the east coast flying out on occasion but planned to return to his home as much as possible. It was important that they maintained the act of being a happy married couple. It wasn't a hard thing to do. She likes spending time with Corey. He made her feel normal again despite being in Hollywood. He kept her grounded and made he feel like Raye Raye from Miami and now Raye Washington the actress.
Autumn recommended that stay in the public eye at every opportunity possible so after finishing working, they went to an early dinner at the Ivy in Los Angeles. Photographers stood outside of the restaurant taking pictures as Ray and Corey walked in holding hands. They were seated quickly and refused immensely when the waiter offered them wine. Raye just ordered a coke while Corey settled on lemonade. When the waiter walked away Raye slid a white envelope towards Corey on the table.
He eyed the envelope suspiciously causing Raye to laugh. "Open it before you pass judgment Corey."
He opened the envelope and pulled out two basketball tickets for tonight's Laker game against Oklahoma City. Raye smiled she when saw the excitement on Corey's face. "There court side seats. It's my way of thanking you for being so great the past few days."
"Raye you didn't have to buy tickets-"
"I didn't," she interjected. "I called in a favor and they were given to me....to us. If you don't want to go we don't have to. Or you can take Liam. You're probably tired of me....I can fly him out right away.....or you can go alone."
Corey grinned. He thought Raye was adorable as she rambled. "I want to go, with you."
Raye smiled at him from across the table. She was pleased because she really wanted to go to the game with him also.
:
It wasn't Corey's first time at a NBA basketball game but it was his first time sitting court side. It was amazing to see some of his favorite players up close and personal. Kobe was hurt but he got to see KD and Russell Westbrook in action. He was a true Orlando Magic fan but the Lakers and OKC were in his top 5 teams along with the Heat and Knicks.
He was beyond happy and he had the beautiful woman sitting beside him to thank.
Thank you for tonight," he whispered in her ear. The crowd was booming in the arena and it was the only way that Raye could hear him.
