[20] Bedtime

After lunch, the two sisters went shopping and as a result Raye didn't walk into the apartment until late in the evening. Corey was already there on the couch asleep. She stared at him for a moment. He looked a lot younger than 22 years old. She grabbed the remote control and flipped the television off. With one last look, she took her shopping bags to the bedroom before taking a quick shower. By the time she got out she expected Corey to be awake but he was passed out on the couch. Raye grabbed a blanket from the bed and snuggled against Corey's chest and fell asleep on top of him.

Corey eventually woke up in the middle of the night and was surprised to see Raye sleeping on top of him. His morning wood was in full effect and Raye was laying against it. He carefully slid from underneath her and then carried her into the bedroom. Raye started to stir once she was placed on the bed.

"What are you doing?" she whined.

"I'm trying to keep from jumping you."

"What if I want you to jump me?" she countered.

Corey sat on the side of the bed and faced Raye. "You don't trust me Raye. During lunch you called me by mistake and I overheard part of you conversation. I'm not going to do that with you until I have your trust."

She was partly embarrassed and upset that she was hurting Corey. It was clearly written across his face that he didn't like what he heard. "I'm sorry. How much of the conversation did you hear?" She was worried that he knew about the kiss.

"Only that you don't trust me. I ended the call afterwards," he stated. "And Raye you don't have to be sorry. I understand your feelings. I just hope that one day you can learn to trust me again."

Raye wasn't going to lie to him. "I don't know if I ever will."

"I'll just have to work harder and prove to you that I'm trustworthy. I'm not going to hurt you again Raye. Since you walked back into my life I haven't looked at another woman."

They've only been in contact for a couple of months. What's going to happen in the future? Raye thought to herself. She was tired of talking and thinking about the past. "I thought we were moving forward?" she said.

Corey sighed. "There's no real way to move forward if we don't completely deal with the past Raye."

She knew he was right. "Can we compromise for now? Just lay with me. I promise to not try anything. I just want to sleep in your arms."

He eyed her suspiciously. "No funny business."

"I promise."

Corey laid next to Raye in the bed and she snuggled against his side. She tangled her fingers with his. It was around 3am and the only light creeping in the room was coming from the street lights outside of the apartment window. Now that she was awake she couldn't sleep. "Did you have fun with Liam?"

"Yeah it was alright. We went to play ball but ended up talking about Reagan the entire time."

"About what?"

Corey smiled. "He wants a baby."

"She already knows that. I think it's ironic because usually the woman is trying to trap the man-"

"And instead Liam is trying to trap her," Corey finished. "I told him to talk to her. I would be pissed if someone trapped me."

Raye agreed with him. "Same here but I think she's already pregnant or at least in the process of it," she mumbled.

Corey was quiet for a moment. "Do you want kids?"

"Yeah just not now. Sometimes I consider myself a child."

"I don't think you give yourself enough credit. You're the baby of the family but you're an adult. I've watched you work and there's nothing childlike about it." Corey played with her hand while he talked. "Traveling across the country, talking with interviewers and reporters, and putting yourself in front of the camera is brave. I don't know how you do it. I amazed whenever I see you on a TV show or movie. I'm your biggest fan Raye."

Raye lifted her head and kissed Corey. It was meant to be a brief kiss but quickly turned passionate. Corey ran his fingers through Raye's hair as their tongues tangled with one another. Corey was a second from rolling top of Raye but stopped himself.

"I told you no funny business," he whispered against her lips before pecking her lips one last time.

"I didn't mean anything funny about it," she said with a smile.

Corey stroked Raye's hair as she trailed fingers down his other arm.

"Do you remember Reese's party in Gainesville?"

Of course he remembered. It was when he was 16 and she was 14. The one and only time they spent the night together as teens. Reese had a party and he drove up with Liam from Miami. "One of the best nights of my life. I got to stay the night with my girl."

"And we made out for hours. When Reese came and checked on us we pretended to be sleep."

Corey laughed. "That was a tough night for me. I promised your dad that I wouldn't think about having sex with you but it was so hard not to."

"I thought about it too now I'm glad we didn't do anything."

Raye felt Corey's hand stop movement.

"Not because of what happened," she quickly said to ease his worries. "Because I was too young for sex."

"You're right."

"Well what I'm proposing is that we have another Gainesville night. If things get too far we'll stop it just like before."

Corey didn't think he would be able to stop. "I don't know about that Raye."

"What are you afraid of?" she taunted.

"I'm not afraid of anything. This is the funny business I was talking about." He smiled in amusement. "So you want to make out like teenagers?"

She nodded her head. "Yup."

"No."

"No?"

"No," he repeated. "I don't think it's a good idea."

Raye was completely disappointed. She expected him to say yes. "Okay. I need to freshen up." She rose from the bed and went into the bathroom. Raye went into the bathroom to get a better control on her emotions. She didn't like being rejected. After relieving herself and washing her hands she walked back into an empty room. Well damn. He didn't even want to sleep with me? She walked further in the room and Corey was hiding behind the door. When she least expected it, he grabbed Raye and picked her up and placed her against the wall before placing his lips on hers.

"I don't want to make out like Raye and Corey when we were teens. I want us to be the way we are now. Don't ever doubt that I don't want you, I always want you." Corey kissed Raye again before walking away from the wall and placing her on the bed.
