Like the day Jihoon went to go meet Hyein today was another rainy day, but unlike the feeling of happiness and eager Hyein had felt Jihoon on the other felt his footsteps heavier with each step as he went to go and see her. He had his umbrella in hand as well as a bouquet of flowers, the bright perennials standing out in contrast to the gloomy weather.
He found himself wandering through a sea of umbreallas as he crossed each street, although he was going to see her he should feel happy but something had him feeling anything other than that. As he was walking he passed by the park they once shared ice cream, the memory bringing a bittersweet smile to him as he continued his walking. Instead of that particular park, he found himself turning into another field as if it was instictivly. He roamed through the fields until he stopped upon seeing her, it was at this moment when his footsteps were the heaviest. His steps were slowed as he approached her, Jihoon handing her the bouquet.
"Hi Hyein, it's been a while, right?" She didn't respond right away even though he had waited for her. He felt tears welling in his eyes as the rain continued to pour down even heavier than before, not only was Jihoon crying but the skies were as well. His eyes trailed over her appearence, this only dragging him down further.
The day the two were orignally suppose to meet was a day like today, a day Jihoon had regreted. He didn't know the outcomes that would've happened and if he did he wouldn't have called her.
He waited in the park they were suppose to meet up that day, he didn't think they were going to be out long so he didn't bother with an umbrella. Soon a few minutes turned into a half hour before becoming an hour, Jihoon got up and began to walk out with the thought he had been stood up. As he walked towards the busy main streets he noticed a crowd that began to form, people starting to whisper as they saw the sight before them. Curiosity had gotten to him which led him to looking, he regretted looking. Lying in the middle of the street not to far from the crosswalk was a lifeless body who looked oh-so familiar to him.
Traffic was halted as ambulance presence took the streets, police had ushered the public aware from the horrific scenery while other officers were taking statements from witnesses nearby. The roads were slippery due to the rainfall which resulted in an truck swerving off course and ultimately crashing into pedestrians that had the right of way to cross, although a few others were injured Hyein was affected the most; she was ruled as a DOA when the ambulance had finally gotten to her.
Here Jihoon stood with tears in his eyes as he was in front of her grave, the flowers resembling her brightness and cheery attitude amongst the tombstone it rested upon. Similar to how Hyein was hurt the day Jihoon had gotten accepted into the arts school, Jihoon had forced himself to smile although it was bittersweet. It was funny to him how people could share the same emotions although the circumstances were different, but from this he learned. He was filled with regret much after visiting her, he knew that with the storm comes sunshine and one day he'll finally come to amends the same way Hyein did.
끝.
