When Gandalf came to you asking you to join the Company of Thorin Oakenshield, you immediately accepted the offer.
You walk down a dirt road in Hobbiton, and seeing the marking Gandalf left, walk up a set of stone steps to your destination. You take a deep breath as you knock on the hobbit's door.
"(Y/N) at your service!" You say cheerily.
"Bilbo Baggins, at yours..." the hobbit says.
He seems a bit confused as you hand him a large leather bag containing your weapons. With you, you brought a set of two small daggers and a pocket knife. You also possess multiple throwing axes, which you keep hidden in your boots and forearm covers.
You tighten your belt around your oversized dwarven clothing, which includes a thin layer of thermal clothing, long purple robe, and a warm overcoat with a fur lined hood.
As you enter the dining room, you notice a pair of familiar looking brothers. You toss a waist long (h/c) curl over your shoulder before sitting down next to Fili.
"Well, look who it is brother!" Kili exclaims.
Fili turns around, "(Y/N)!"
He embraces you in a warm hug. He sits back, smiling, still holding onto your shoulders, before hugging you again, this time standing up and lifting you off the ground. You boop his nose lightly with your forefinger. His smile grows until he can't smile any wider. The smile turns into a laugh. You start laughing too, out of pure joy.Fili sets you on the ground and holds your face in his hands, feeling the softness of your cheeks.
This reminded you of a time back home when the two of you were younger.
You, as a young dwarf girl, was self conscious. Unlike the other dwarf girls, you hadn't got even the slightest hint of facial hair. Your beardless face itself originally didn't bother you, but it caused you to stand out. That was what made you start to hate it with a passion. You despised it and thought it made you look weird. Fili, however, thought otherwise. He had walked over to you one day, and asked why you didn't have a beard. You told him. You were just part human, that's all. You thought he would laugh or make fun of you, but he didn't. He said that yes, you were different, but that your differences were not something to be ashamed of, they were something to be proud of... something that made you beautiful.
That's how your friendship started, and it only grew stronger from there.
Fili, still touching your cheeks, leans in and whispers in your ear "I didn't think it was possible, but you're even more beautiful than the last time I saw you."
He kissed your forehead softly before smiling at you again and sitting back down beside his brother.
You could tell that no matter how long and tiring this journey would be, it was going to be a lot better with Fili by your side.
