“This is it shorty,” Uriah said, slinging an arm across my shoulders. “Today we find out how we're doing.”

“Yeah, I know,” I said. I tried to shrug his arm off my shoulder but it wasn't working.

Uriah is by far my best friend here and the only reason I came out of my Abnegation induced shell. I can't ruin our friendship, but I like him a lot more than like a friend. He has this way of making me feel like I'm at home. He calms me so much it's ridiculous.

“Ranking of both groups together is presented on the board behind me. All of you have put in so much work and we're really proud of you all. Phase 2 starts tomorrow morning. Everyone will report to the Fear Landscape at 9:30 sharp,” Four explained.

I scanned the board for my name and I was fifth on the list. Uriah was first.

“Hey, you did awesome,” Uriah said. “Why don't we go get tattoos to celebrate?”

“Yeah, sure,” I said. “It doesn't hurt does it? Cause I'm kind of scared of needles.”

“Nah, you'll be fine. I'll be right there the whole time,” he said.

“Thanks,” I said, trying to contain my blush.

“C'mon,” he said leading me to a tattoo parlor.

“What about this?” Uriah asked, holding up an almost full back tattoo.

“For you?” I asked. He nodded.

“Yeah, I think it's cool,” I said. I continued to look at the tattoos as he talk to the artist.

“Hey, Alex. What about this?” he asked holding up a Dauntless symbol. “You could get it on your shoulder or something.”

“Bicep,” I said.

“Yeah, good idea,” he said.

Twenty minutes later, I was sitting in the seat next to Uriah as I tried not to freak out. He turned his head to look at me while the artist doing his tattoo got to work.

“Chill,” Uriah said.

“I am chill, thanks,” I said.

“I know,” he said. The artist started working on my tattoo, and I started calming down some. I don't know why, but sitting here with Uriah automatically calmed me down.

“You good?” He asked.

“Yeah, I'm good,” I said. “You?”

“I have one on my skull. I'm perfectly fine,” he said. It was quiet for the next hour as Uriah had his tattoo finished up.

“Thanks for convincing me to do that,” I said.

“It didn't take much convincing,” he said. “Besides, you were bound to do it sooner or later.”

“That's true. I should probably get back to the dorms. I heard Phase 2 is Hell,” I said.

“Yeah, me too. I'll see you in the morning,” he said.
