The next few months dragged on in the same fashion. About a month after the twins were born, we had to start sending them to day care so Uriah and I could both be at work. Uriah actually cried the first time we have to leave them there. Luckily, Shauna ran the day care, so we knew they were in good hands.

"I can't believe tomorrow's going to be our first Christmas together," Uriah said, kissing my forehead as he sat down beside me. Even sitting down he had a noticeable height advantage.

"Babe, do you ever think we rushed into this?" I asked, looking at the bright lights on the fake tree.

"No, of course not. I mean sometimes you just know, and, baby boy, I know I want to spend the rest of my life with you," Uriah said.

"Awe, babe. I love you and wanna spend the rest of my life with you too," I said, turning to face him slightly.

"I love you too, Alex," he said. I leaned up and kissed his lips gently. As if on cue, Maeve started crying.

"I swear, they know the second our lips meet," Uriah mumbled as we stood up to go check on her.

"I know they do," I said. "They're our kids. It's like their job to know."

By the time we got upstairs, Maeve had all but fallen back asleep.

"Let's get to bed so we can celebrate," Uriah said.

"As long as by celebrate you mean go to sleep so Christmas comes sooner," I said happily.

"Yeah, of course," Uriah said. I rolled my eyes at him but followed him to our room. We had spent the whole day wrapping presents since neither of us are very good at it, so I was beyond exhausted. The second my head hit the pillow I was out like a light.

The next morning, Uriah woke me up since the twins were up.

"Come on babe," Uriah said. We both rolled out of bed and headed to their room.

"I've got AJ," I said, walking over and picking him up. I changed him and put him in a clean onsie although we'd change him again before we headed to Zeke and Shauna's for dinner and family Christmas.

"Let's go," Uriah said happily. We headed downstairs and sat down on the floor near the tree.

Over the course of the next hour or so we helped the twins open their presents. That meant we opened them and gave the toys to the twins to play with.

"This present is for Daddy," Uriah said, smiling at Maeve and AJ. The two were laying on the floor beside each other.

"And this one is for Dada," I said, holding up the box that contained his gift from me.

"Open yours first," Uriah said, holding a box up to me. I clicked the box open and inside was a small black band.

"Alex, I've loved you since the very first Hey Stiff! But, I love you now more then ever. Seeing you with our kids, it just makes it so much better. Babe, will you marry me?" He asked, moving to kneel in front of me.

"I'd love to Uriah," I said, kissing his lips gently. He took the ring and slid it onto my left ring finger. It was weird to wear a ring, but it was amazing to know that this ring was symbolically what made Uriah and I one.

"Oh, uh, here," I said, holding his gift out to him.

"Babe, this is amazing," he said, holding up the dog tags.

"Well, you always complain that you feel so distant while we're at work. I figured if we have more kids we can add their names," I said.

"It's perfect babe. Thank you," he said, kissing my lips.

"Let's go get ready."
