"Guess what today is," Uriah sung in order to wake me up.
"The Choosing Ceremony," I said softly, wiping my eyes to wake up. Uriah had sat the twins down on the bed and they we're happily playing away together and talking.
"And one year since we met," he said, kissing my lips.
"Happy one year meet-aversary," I said, laughing at myself as I stumbled over my words.
"You too, baby," he said. "Go, shower. I'll dress the babies." I nodded and headed into the bathroom. I showered quickly and dressed in a pair of black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt. I styled my hair quickly, having gained a lot of practice over the last year. Uriah walked into the bathroom, carrying both twins, and handed Maeve to me.
"Hey, Maeve-a-doodle," I said, kissing her head gently.
"Daddy," she giggled happily. I smiled at my daughter as she continued to babble on.
"Should we go get breakfast before you guys go to Aunt Shauna's?" I asked. Both of the twins continued to babble on happily. Uriah and I laughed at them as we headed down to the cafeteria.
"Hey," Four said, sitting down beside me with Tris beside him. She was three months pregnant, so she wasn't going with us today, and neither was Four. He was scared of heights, so he would stay and pull people off the net at the bottom.
"Hello," I said. I was trying to get Maeve to eat as I was also trying to eat my own breakfast.
"So, it's the two of you today. Do not spend the whole time making out," Four said. "Tori is going with you as well. It's Amity's year to do the ceremony, so it ought to be a good one."
"Sounds good," Uriah said. We'd been through the plan for today probably close to a hundred times. I could recite it in my sleep by now.
"I'm trusting the two of you," Four said. Tris backhanded his arm slightly causing him to look at her and quit glaring at Uriah and I.
"Be nice. They know what they're doing and how to conduct themselves. Stop worrying about it," Tris said.
"Thank you," I mouthed to her behind Fours back. She nodded slightly.
"I'm glad someone trusts us," Uriah said, glaring at Four.
"I'm never going to trust you Uriah," Four said.
"Baby boy, we should be going," Uriah said. I nodded and stood up, placing Maeve on my hip and grabbing the tray in my empty hand. We walked in silence to return the trays before interlocking our fingers and heading off to drop the kids off.
"Bye Maevey," I said, kissing my daughter's head as we walked into the daycare.
"Bye Daddy," she said. I smiled and said bye to AJ before leaving with Uriah. We headed above ground and caught the first train we could into the heart of the city.
"Do you ever get scared?" I asked Uriah softly as we were standing by the open door of the train.
"I used to never be scared, but now, with you and the twins, I'm always scared you're going to get hurt or one of the twins is gonna get sick," he answered.
"Ew, when did we become so gross?" I asked. "When did we become old people that worry about important things like other people?"
"The day we became parents," he said. I rolled my eyes at him but had to agree. We rode in silence until we had to jump off to get to the ceremony. We met up with some other Dauntless members and started cheering.
We headed inside and took the stairs, creating as much noise as humanly possible.
